People think that 120 years spoken in the Bible has to do the life span of mankind. But that can not be.

The only passage that deals with life span is found in Psalm 90:10.

God gave a precise time about the judgement of the Flood. Noah was warned, when he was 480 years. The flood occurred in 600 year of Noah, did you know?

First, I have to state my opinion (which is also a fact) about the Bible:

The Bible is a great book of stories. Very interesting, very entertaining. However, the Bible has been translated from language to language and rewritten by so many different people that it CANNOT be the original version anymore. Therefore, you have to read the Bible as a work of FICTION.

I am not saying that some of it is not based on truth. I am simply saying that the Bible has had too many revisions to be considered history.

Now, your comments about age. Time is one of the most easily confused (and altered) details in any story. If God created the Earth in six days, just how long were those "days"? Not likely 24 hours each. Might have been six 1-million year long "days". Even that was pretty remarkable.

Here are some other Biblical details to ponder: Adam and Eve and the apple. Apple? Not in that part of the world. Most scholars say the original Biblical reference was "fruit" rather than "apple". But someone translated fruit into apple. It might have been a fig or an olive or even a watermelon. Who knows? And who cares? The basic concept still applies. Adam and Eve tasted of something they were warned not to touch. Still has the same ending, still teaches the same lesson.

Yes, which makes Noah's obedience even more amazing. 120 years to build the ark. 120 years of people cracking on him.

Here's another, when did Methuselah, the man who lived longer than any other and Noah's grandfather, die? In the same year as the flood. Did he die in the flood? Nobody knows. It is possible.

You are correct. It was 120 years until the Flood. Some do misunderstand that.

I beg to differ, respectfully of course.

The lifespan given by God for humans at Gen 6:3 came a long time before that which was written in Palm 90:10. Both were true for the time they were written.

There were 120 years given for Noah to try to convince the populace to repent, true.

The idea of a lifespan being 120 years comes from the lifespan of Moses, and is elucidated in the Oral Torah [Talmud, etc.] much more than in the Written Torah ["Old Testament", if you will].

Know what? that it took him 120 years to build the ark? God would no longer strive or intervene directly with man? Do you notice the sceptics, and their revealing interest in the word? Then they say they are atheist, posh! posh! poor babies!

In the translation of the scriptures from its original text to what we have today, there are many errors in the translation. While reading the scriptures - unless you can read the original text - you must do so with the knowledge that some of the original message could be lost, misinterpreted, or lacking in its translation.

He says his days shall be 120 years. Meaning days will be shortened. They lived for a long time in those days.

OK, but how will this bit of information change the overall content and message of scripture? Does it really matter how long a day or year is?

I've never heard it said that the 120 years had anything to do with the lifespan of man.

And of course, our years are never guaranteed.
