Great question. I am a theist but would rather live in a democracy than a theocracy. When Christianity and politics mix extensively, Christianity replaces grace with power and the true nature of the Gospel message is lost.
Im sure to get thumbs down from fellow theists. Everyone should read Phillip Yancey's book, What's so Amazing about Grace. Chapter 17 and 18 deal with Christians in politics, but you really need to read the first 16 chapters to get the full impact of the message.

i could extremely stay decrease than Communism through fact this is possible the superb thought yet although i know that Communism won't artwork through greed and different human "flaws." So i could evaluate democracy through fact a minimum of it tries to furnish a honest probability and opinion for persons and this is puzzling to clutter with the equipment, and theocracy final through fact i do no longer think of this is on HaShem's checklist to babysit Earth nor I theocracy will probable exchange right into a totalitarian/dystopian international.

I'd prefer to live in the United States, a mulitcultural democratic republic, and under our present Constitution.
Our Constitution is founded upon Christian principles, yet forbids the establishment of any one religion *by the government*. It provides for a democratic republican form of government. The people elect representatives who formulate and enact the laws of the land on the peoples' behalf. Often these laws reflect in general the world-view of the Christian tradition that is the heritage of our culture and the majority of our people.
Millions of people from all over the world and from many different religious traditions strive to come here to live and to work and to seek the American dream. My neighbors and co-workers are some of them - from Nepal, Mexico, Thailand, India, Guatemala, Ghana, and Jamaica. Spain, Argentina, Great Britian, Israel, El Savador, even Iran and Afghanistan . . .
( . . . what other nation would natives come to from "enemy" countries, arrive with their families, settle, set up businesses and buy homes? )
America! What a country!
The only officially atheist countries I know of are the Peoples' Republic of China, Vietnam, and North Korea. The last two, I know no foreigners are trying to go live there . . . and China, I'm not sure about. The former Soviet Union was atheist also.
Tens of millions of people have been killed in civil wars in these lands, more people than have died in wars for any reason in all of human history.

well since Heaven in Heavens is not a democracy my best guess is TheTheocracy. since if you don't do what G-D says, you can go to earth today. that should keep em in line, to not rebel.
but the problem of a true theocracy appears to be a problem on this planet of only alleged true churches, temples and synagogues.

Well, I believe in a nondenominational God... I call myself an agnostic theist.
But what would just make me pleased as punch would be to live in a theocracy governed by Muslim law. Oooh! I can hardly contain myself at the notion!
Oh... you were talking about a Christian theocracy? I think I already live in one of those...

Democracies are great as long as the people have strong moral foundations.
Theocracy? I love it! I live in one right now. I live under the authority and direction of God everyday, trying to follow His commandments, preserved and protected by His Holy Catholic Church. :D
God bless.

Richard,
Theocratic Societies have always been feudal and never been good for anyone to live under. We have been very fortunate to live in a Democratic Society for many years. That does not mean it is the best thing for everyone world-wide but it is for the USA. Have a great week.
Thanks,

Democracy. Like the Rev. Soleil pointed out... it would suck if someone else's religion was calling the shots... like the Fundies (shudders)... I guess that's how the atheists feel when religion of any kind gets into politics.

Democracy for me. Theocracies are usually set up by pseudo-religious fundamentalist tyrants.
