You need to talk to the person named in the will as the executor. He or she is in charge of distributing the assets according to the will. If you're the executor, you need to contact your father's financial institutions, and for the house, the city or county government. They will ask you for documentation and turn the assets over to you. If he had a mortgage, you probably need to contact the lender too.

If you have trouble with this, an estate attorney can help you.

The executor/executrix of the estate is responsible for distributing assets. He/she usually consults a lawyer for legal advice.

If the money is in trust for you, you don't really need an attorney. You just go to the bank. If the money is not in trust for you and its located in a will, then you would have to go to an attorney. They will find an exector, which could be you, if they can't find one. Then the attorney will help you get your money.
