Part of the Christian Doctrine is to "go out and make disciples of all the people of the earth". So to answer your question, no they can't just leave us alone. They have to try to convert us. Its their thing.

I can understand your dilemma since those who profess beliefs you must refute because it is not possible to prove God does not exist. So your profession on believing God does not exist cannot be upheld unless you continue to refute. Therefore with every profession, to remain in your belief you will need to continue to say "no" to it or you will at the very least have to profess you do not know, and at that point you would be agnostic.
Athiesm is more anti-theism than thiesm, which is, by its nature exhausting. I can understand the frustration you have and the reason you find religious profession a threat to possible conversion. Yet as you must continue to refute, those who are not athiest still have a right to believe and even say so publically as you do. And your refutation compells Christians to profess more because of their belief in the parable of the Good Samaritan, where those who are in need Christ followers must help. Otherwise, they are hypocritical. So I suppose this is a cycle that will always continue with some degree of tension.

This might be the case if not for two reasons:
1. Those whose have realized the promised effects of truly believing on Christ want others to know Him.
2. Militant atheism is denigrating and attacking those who are religious, and evangelistically promoting their own belief system of atheism as superior, though the reality is far worse atrocities have been done by men acting out of it's objectively baseless morality than other false belief systems. None of which Biblical Christianity is guilty of, but quite the opposite.

Atheists want to be left alone and not hear the word of God, yet they hang out in R & S in Yahoo answers where they are going to hear about the beliefs of many different religions. If they don't want to hear what believers have to say about their faith, then maybe they should stay out of areas where that faith is discussed.

Religious are expressing their opinion, just like you are allowed to. Freedom of speech. You're telling me that you never once told someone who is religious that their religion is false and that they should not imprison themselves with it?
If you haven't I'm very surprised because I've never seen an atheist not express their opinion about this issue.

No they can't, because the atheists are right, and religious people feel that their beliefs are endangered by letting Atheists show them the mistake of their way, and what is the best defense but attack? it's a war for the survival of religion, that's what it is.

that would be a nice idea if they would stop trying to change the laws and have everything be politically correct which serves to alter and infringe on the christian trying to live his life....
To be employed I am forced to work on the Sabbath, working a grocery check stand I am forced to ring up alcoholic products on the Sabbath...this action makes me feel like crap but everyone else is happy at my discomfort....
Yes, Christians are to inform the lost of this world...I am to the point in time of...."you don't want to get on the boat, don't scream for a life vest when the rain starts."

Because Jesus asked us to go out into the world and spread the good news. He asked us to love one another and love our neighbor as we love ourselves. When we die, we will all go somewhere. Since we ove you andcare for you, we want you to live with God in the new Jerusalem and not be tromented forever in a pit with the Satan.
Mat 28:19 Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

To be honest, in real life, if a person comes to me and tries to convert me, that really makes my day. I started enjoying this kind of face-to-face conversations, cause I have arguments and they don't, and being face-to-face they can't even go insulting me.

Because one soul is important to God.
Luke 15:7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.
