my 30-06 is shooting 2 inches low at 50 yards....so would i rotate the knob on the top or the side of my gun? it has never been off so i dont no which one does what...thanks....its a simple question but it would help alot

All 'scopes I have ever used or seen adjust in the same manner (basically):
Top control: Elevation (up & down)
SIde control: Windage ( side to side, right & left)

It is the knob (screw) on top. Most scopes made recently are set for 1/4 minute of angle adjustments. That means each click will move the point of impact 1/4 inch at 100 yards. That means to move your point of impact two inches at 50 yards would require 16 clicks of up elevation. 1 minute adjustments would require 4 clicks, 1/2 minute-8 clicks and so on.

Yep, adjust the elevation on the top. Remember to adjust the bullet impact. You need to adjust up, so turn the elevation knob in the direction of the U or opposite of the D.
