My only son just turned 1 in september. We have two girls(5&2). We are now expecting our 4th child and my son is so rough. He hits and kicks and its all in play but he doesn't listen when I tell him to stop. We don't play with him this way(the hitting). Its painful to me when he does it.
I need advice on how to teach him its not okay to hit mommy or anyone else.

My son gets a smack on the leg, a loudish NO HITTING, THATS MEAN, and gets sat down on the floor away from us. He only hits now when he forgets and gets excited. Before he used to body slam and bite and hit and kick and all sorts of baby things.

He's not 10 months yet, but he knows what easy means, because I taught him, and made him apply it to his actions.

You have to teach him no, easy, and other words like that. He's more than old enough to understand how to do things.

You need to give him a time out every time he hits, even if it's all day. Hitting him back and saying "NO HITTING" isn't going to work. You can't hit him and then say hitting isn't nice. It doesn't work. Try the time out. Have a little chair and if you have to keep putting him on it, do it. I saw this on the Nanny show and it took about 2 hours but the son finally got it. If I hit then I go to the time out chair. Good luck!

Parenting requires patience , consistency and constant monitoring..some kids can be like that, one way that he does this is my emulating someone, he may see it in her siblings or the television, just keep talking to him and focus his attention to other things like indoor play games, like mega blocks, building letters, picture books, writing pads but with soft pencil, anyhting that allows him to explore there so he will stop being physical..needs more innovations around him and the people around him..patience man, patience!!!
