Why does any inference to Jesus, God, or Christianity in responses automatically get a “thumbs down?” Opinions are opinions, good or bad, why are some people so offended that any mention at all of a religious nature in a response justifies a “thumbs down?” I have read some wonderful responses and yet they have numerous “thumbs down.” I don’t understand the hostility…please explain it to me.

Hey Deke...I am not effected. It is a simple question. Why the rude answer? You only validate my argument that hostility rules whenever a simple and honest question about religion is asked.

I don't take any "thumbs down" personally. I do agree, a bad answer is a bad answer and deserves "thumbs down," but when an answer has some truth and makes some degree of sense and is given a "thumbs down" simply because of the religious implications, doesn't that invalidate the true validity of the response?

Ooops, I mean: "doesn't that invalidete the true intent of the response?"

I don't know, I could be wrong but I think it is more the younger generation doing this as the older generation has a different thought pattern and value system due to our upbringing, that's not to say older people do not do this but I think for the most part it is younger folks and many have had no religion in their life. Lets face it, younger people are more hostile, out spoken then ever before. I do not like to judge people by age or anything else as there is good and bad behavior in all ages.

It doesn't make sense does it? That's the problem with the trinity doctrine! God cannot lie so when Jesus said this it didn't mean that God actually had forsaken him, it was because the pain was going on for so long and he desired relief Titus 1:2 - "upon the basis of a hope of the everlasting life which God, who cannot lie, promised before times long lasting" Re: other responses...11 So that is why God lets an operation of error go to them, that they may get to believing the lie (New World Translation) It does NOT mean God manufactured the lie, he LET the lie go to them (implying that the lie did not originate with Him).,..there is a difference. Also, God didnt lie when he told Adam & Eve that they would die...they did. I mean, they are not alive today are they? Humans were designed to live forever on earth so when God said they would die he meant that the eternal life they would have enjoyed would cease.

I've tried to figure this one out myself, many times. The only logical conclusion I can draw is that hearing the name of Christ and the truth of the gospel causes fear and condemnation. Some people are offended by being told anything which might challenge their beliefs, behaviors, comfort zones, expectations, attitudes, and habits. Christian and non-Christian alike. I've noticed that the atheists work as hard as believers trying to convince others of their position. Why? It seems unnecessary (if one does not believe in God, the devil, heaven or hell) to attempt to convince others not to do so. But, they do and the "thumbs down" is merely a way of making their point.

It's not so much the mention of them, everybody has a right to their own opinion, it's just when religion is used in a hostile way. for example, being told that I'm going to go to hell because I believe in a woman's right to choose, and so forth.

It's not the religion that people have the problem with, it's the people who try and force it down our throats.

I like getting thumbs down just fine. It's better than no response at all!

I just get surprised when some of my nicest, non-confrontational responses get lots of them.

People here like to give thumbs down if they disagree. Everyone gets them, just don't take it personally.

Those in darkness do not like 'the light of the gospel' to shine on them. They are afraid of the Truth.

It's a little like, those critters of the night & shadows, or bugs, that quickly scurry under rocks & crevices to hide from the light shining on them.

"Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." (John 8:12)

bad opinions and useless answers get thumbs down... why wouldn't they? Isn't that the point? They don't have to be offensive, and its not hostile.

It's only thumbs down. Why worry about it.
It's not like it really matters.
