Obviously someone could infer that there is correlation, but does that necessarily mean one causes the other?

If yes, you should also ban the sale of ice cream for the same reason.

As ice cream sales go up, so do the number of violent crimes, including murders and rape. This is a fact. There is correlation

Do they have a causal relationship simply because there is correlation?

I think the increase in school violence comes from lack of morals and values taught at home regardless of religion. While I believe they should allow children to pray in school if they choose, I do not believe it ought to be forced on everyone. But no amount of praying in school is going to make up for what the perpetrating students are lacking at home.

Lack of control does equal a period of instability. We took away Saddam Hussein and then Iraq plunged into a civil war...
However, if the people responsible for these shootings said it was b/c of lack of school prayer, that's about the only way anyone could be definite as to correlation between the two. These were obviously done by people with issues. Probably b/c they were raised Christian. According to that assumed correlation, nobody should be taught Christianity until they're out of school.

Some seem not to realize that Correlation does not mean Causation. The cause of the rise of violence in schools would not be because of lack of school prayer. It would be because of lack of parenting. Most kids that do violence in school are truly looking for attention because they do not get it at home. Why? Usually because the parents have their head too far up their butts to realize that their child is in trouble. Too busy with making money, playing golf (or whatever other sport), Hanging out with their friends, watching their TV shows, etc. The issue comes from parents not truly caring about their kids and wanting to use the TV as a babysitter so they can get other things done.

During the same time frame, Abortion became a constitutional right, so so-called "back alley" or dangerous illegal abortion rates dropped like a rock. By their logic, because one happened at the same time as another, the increase of school shootings could be due to the substantial increase of safe and legal abortions.

Nope. Correlation does not mean causation. It's a mistake a lot of people make when trying to push their individual agenda.

And of course, it also means we should encourage piracy. Because, as we all know, as the number of pirates has decreased, global temperature has increased. Therefore, the pirates caused a temperature decrease.

there is a direct correlation between our attitudes toward G-D, and all pestilence, plague and famine sent. and the establishment of a nonG-D government established religion of baal molech, definatly is not going to make things any better. and is not going to give cause for G-D to send peace to this world. what you see actualy physicialy happening in this world today, is commanded by G-D to happen according to our mental attitude toward TheVery Jealous G-D. believe in G-D Worship G-D, believe not even in me TheHisSon and fellowservant, but verify what i say from HIM, according to true scripture as TheHisAngel Son adam. only then shall we see if the ice cream, realy has anything to do with this.

Correlation does NOT equal causation. I don't give a damn what most Christians say. If they have ever taken a higher level college course they would know this.

Please continue to stick you head in the sand and deny the evidence. Before 1963 there are recorded two instances of major school violence. Neither by students, after? over 9000 is there a correlation? only a blind fool would think not. do you fit into that category?
