Colposcopy is a procedure that allows a physician to take a closer look at a woman's cervix and vagina using a special instrument called a colposcope. It is used to check for precancerous or abnormal areas. The colposcope can magnify the area between 10 and 40 times; some devices also can take photographs.

When your doctor has a doubt, it is better to have the biopsy done without waiting any more. This will tell the fact and actual position and also relive of your daily worry. Cervical cancer mostly develope due to HPV virus and genital warts. Unless it is confirmed by a biopsy it will not be possible to tell anything now. However please be prepared for the worst and try to have early treatment as early treatment will bring you early cure and you will have reduced sufferings. You can not neglect as Cancer is still an enigma and you have to attend immediately. Best wishes.-

Well, "a bad spot" is not very descriptive is it ?

HPV is the precursor to cancer and it goes through a number of stages before becoming cancer.

The biopsy will enable the spot to be examined to see where it is along that line. It may simply be HPV or somewhere between that and cervical cancer (or maybe something else entirely).

Sorry I cannot be more specific, but only that biopsy is going to tell us. Even if it is cancer, that id not the end of the matter as surgery is often curative.

Try not to worry until there is (if there is) something to worry about, in which case rather than worry - you can do something to get better.

Best of luck.

The biopsy will tell you if its anything bad. Ive been through the same thing and had to have a loop biopsy to remove the bad area of cells. It really isnt as bad as you think, and the best thing is you are being treated straight away.
