It is actually a very good question!

As you rightly say the subject matter of the insurance policy does not exist. This means that ALL benefits of the insurance policy are suspended - including the right to use the DOC extension on the policy. (Some c**p insurance companies cancel a policy completely after a total loss).

Once you buy a replacement car and put it on cover with your insurer (assumin the policy has not been cancelled) then the DOC benefits that you had are reinstated.

(I assume your policy does give DOC - many people believe that DOC is provided automatically if and only if cover is Comprehensive - this is not necessarily the case)

First of all...do not phone the other party. Didn't you notify your insurance company about the accident? If not, you should have and let them handle dealing with the other guy even if it is his fault. You will have insurance on another car...if you insure it!!

I think yes but check your policy and ask the insurance company if in doubt. You will of course need to inform them of the change of car anyway

If it have been your coverage, does not you opt for them to make thoroughly valuable in the previous they paid out on an twist of fate that could desire to be your fault? And, as they pronounced, the police document, and who did or did not get tickets, is just one element of the analyze. Your fact, the fact of alternative drivers, witness statements, and examination of the damages on all autos in touch is likewise element of it. And till that analyze is carried out, you would be unable to declare you at the instant are not at fault, that hasn't been desperate, all you could say is your business enterprise did not locate you at fault. out of your question, it would not look they are refusing in any respect, they have completed some analyze, now they are look apparently to an twist of fate reconstruction as a 0.33 party. February, which ability what, 3 months you have been waiting? I fairly have a vehicle interior the lot, very undesirable twist of fate maximum appropriate to a dying, that they are nevertheless engaged on with coverage firms and lawyers. The date of that twist of fate became February 8, 2008. sure, that's fairly severe. yet, in case you opt for a vehicle, bypass get a vehicle. Or have your very own business enterprise initiate the approach utilising your collision coverage in case you have that. you've a deductible to pay, notwithstanding it gets the approach began and get you paid hassle-free marketplace fee much less deductible assuming that's a entire loss. in case you have not have been given coverage for that, that's a consequence of your determination to decline to it once you acquire coverage. probably the desirable source as to what is going on, and the time to end, would be your very own coverage business enterprise.

Phone your insurance company and give them details of your replacement/new car, so they can update their records.
