What makes me think Americans are more religious than Canadians?

But the most dramatic difference is revealed by what some might consider a larger issue. In Canada, 29 per cent say they believe "strongly" in the existence of hell. Among Americans, that conviction is nearly twice as common, at 57 per cent. The cross-border difference is the largest on any question dealing with personal values. It goes hand in hand with another religious response. Asked how often they attend religious services, Americans are almost twice as likely to say at least once a week (42 per cent) as Canadians (22 per cent).

It's an accepted fact.

I really don't think that Canadians are more religious than our American neighbours. In Canada, ones religious beliefs are more of a personal matter than they are in the U.S. Americans tend to be more willing to shout about their beliefs and make a public spectacle of themselves. Canadians are simply more reserved. Canadians don't want our politics to be invaded by religious influences as is the case in the U.S.

Americans always struck me as being more fiercely patriotic and along with that went their Christian background. Canada is very multicultural and although we probably wake the Americans up when we celebrate Canada Day on July 1st ... we don't talk that much about our faiths (or lack of).

Religion comes from theologians.

Maybe the Canadians are more aware of the mess that theologians have made of the whole thing.

Eye for an eye: the United States imprisons more of its citizens than any other democracy. Christians love revenge.

By being more religious, I hope you mean having a great love for God and His Son Jesus Christ.
