....not sad as in cheesy rubbish but sad as in it really makes the tears well up or gives you goosebumps. I'm in a sad song mood.

I Think it's going to Rain Today, written by Randy Newman.
God...it is sad...
Broken windows and empty hallways
A pale dead moon in the sky streaked with gray
Human kindness is overflowing
And I think it's going to rain today
Scarecrows dressed in the latest styles
With frozen smiles to chase love away
Human kindness is overflowing
And I think it's going to rain today
Lonely, lonely
Tin can at my feet
Think I'll kick it down the street
That's the way to treat a friend
Bright before me the signs implore me
To help the needy and show them the way
Human kindness is overflowing
And I think it's going to rain today

Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling From glen to glen, and down the mountain side The summer's gone, and all the flowers are dying 'Tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide. But come ye back when summer's in the meadow Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow 'Tis I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so. And if you come, when all the flowers are dying And I am dead, as dead I well may be You'll come and find the place where I am lying And kneel and say an "Ave" there for me. And I shall hear, tho' soft you tread above me And all my dreams will warm and sweeter be If you'll not fail to tell me that you love me I'll simply sleep in peace until you come to me. I'll simply sleep in peace until you come to me.

Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley. Nothing compares to you by Sinead O'connor is also very sad.
Just listened to the K.D Lang version of Hallelujah and that is also very good. Jeff Buckley rates higher in the goosebump factor though.

Go to Youtube and watch Here comes Garfield. Watch the bit where he and Odie are in the pound and Garfield has been told that Odie will be executed in the morning. Trust me, it ain't as cheesy as you think.Just listen. If you can't listen without crying I will be very surprised. Let me know what you think. Sorry, I don't know the name of the song or the singer.

This one always gets to me:
Three Bells (Les Trois Cloches)
Album: The Essential Jim Ed Brown & the Browns Buy Jim Ed Brown Sheet Music
Buy Jim Ed Brown CDs
There's a village hidden deep in the valley among the pine trees half forlorn
And there on a sunny morning little Jimmy Brown was born
All the chapel bells were ringing in the little valley town
And the songs that they were singing was for baby Jimmy Brown
And the little congregation prayed for guidance from above
Lead us not into temptation bless this hour of meditation guide him with eternal love
There's a village hidden deep in the valley beneath the mountains high above
And there twenty years thereafter Jimmy was to meet his love
All the chapel bells were ringing twas a great day in his life
For the songs that they were singing was for Jimmy and his wife
And the little congregation prayed for guidance from above
Lead us not into temptation bless oh Lord this celebration
May their lives be filled with love
From the village hidden deep in the valley one rainy morning dark and grey
A soul which wait in the heaven Jimmy Brown had passed away
Just the lonely bell was ringing in the little valley town
Twas there well it was singing to our good old Jimmy Brown
And the little congregation prayed for guidance from above
Lead us not into temptation may his soul find this salvation of Thy great eternal love
Brown Jim Ed Lyrics

Elena Kats-Chernin Eliza's Aria is very emotional for me, I was going through a bad time in my life and every time the Lloyd's TSB Ad (www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3xe9dSY7zM) came on the tune made me cry
Fields of Gold is a sad one for me too
