Greatest country on earth pfft. Haha thanks for making me laugh. I wouldn't want to go there in my whole entire life.

Yes, it probably is to Americans btw, but that doesn't mean they have to put other places down, which a lot of them do.
And I'm not saying all Americans are like that.

I never said I don't like it, I said I don't like a lot of American people's attitudes, and I don't relate to your culture, so I don't want to go to AMerica.

I think every country could claim it's fair share of snobs with snobbish attitudes. I've visited and lived in a few and I know that's true!.

As individuals though, I think we Americans are a very benevolent people who are generous and warm in many respects. As with other things, the negative actions of someone, or something, is often magnified, while the good a person or country does, is minimized. Negative actions often draw more attention it seems, especially in the media..

I would have to agree that the average American these days is spoiled and perhaps has too many "things". But that's another topic. As far as Americans thinking we are better than others, I'm an American and I don't feel that way, nor do my friends. In fact, I speak with people each day and most are very open and compassionate individuals.

Due to my late husband's career I have in the past traveled and had the opportunity to converse with many, holding various viewpoints. Each person, no matter what country they came from shared similar characteristics. They all had aspirations and hopes, they had experienced heartaches and successes, losses and failures. Some were warm and friendly and open to others, some as you say, snobby and aloof. We have our share, as do many other countries. All in all I try to look at the best in people, or else, all you eventually see is the negative and that is usually pretty easy to spot..

Ouch ! How general you are. I am not now, nor have I ever been a snob, nor better than anyone. I think though. that I agree we are spoiled and used to passing the buck off to others. I hate this assumption. There are more Americans out here that care about others, give without prejudice and want only to be the best of what they can. Where are you asking this question from? Look into who has what, American might be a power country, or at least it assumes it is,but, we also give more than most other countries to others, alas, with the exception of our own. Americans go hungry, feel the horrors of homelessness and have no health care. Americans have to sit and watch people damn them because of where we live, while the ones doing the damning are using our own weapons against us.
Before you cast a stone, think about the magnitude of people who actually care about the world and its occupants. One could ask the same about other countries.
If this is the case, why are there so many people wanting to live here from other countries?

I for one do not. Granted Americans have a lot of advantages that others dont. We can travel to any country in the world yet others cant come here.

As far as the question, you shouldnt generalize so much. The actions one or two or even 10 thousand people dont represent and entire collective group. Other countries are kinda of guilty of the is because, on the surface, yes American do look greedy selfish and lazy, however, thats not every single person. Anyone who generalizes on that great of scale is an idiot.

Me im not better than the next man. ...and he's no better than me. That how I see it.

By American do you mean U.S.A? Or also Canada, Mexico and South America.

If you mean U.S.A not all are mean. But unfortanetly alot of Americans think Canadian's are nothing but Syrup Drinking Hockey Fans! >:(

But you mean all American Contry's I know what you mean also. Were hogging most of the Money in the world and most non-americans are living poor because of it. But Luckily Canada has become a peace keeping and donateing Contry. And America is also trying to give more contry's freedom but ushally the worst way unfortanetly... War.

I am an American and I am not a snob at all. I am very friendly to everyone I meet. I live in the southern part of the United States maybe that's why. I love my USA.

I guess we're spoiled. I don't know. I guess you would be too if you lived in the greatest country on Earth. I mean, it's the truth.

Well, actually we are known as the greatest country because of the fact that we are the wealthiest country on Earth. I'm just stating the facts. I'm not trying to be arrogant; just stating facts here. Too bad you like to generalize and clump the entire American population into one arrogant piece of trash without even experiencing life here firsthand. Thanks! XD

Some are like that, I'm sorry you have only met the snobs.
But most of us Americans are not like that.

Just like in every country ,there are good people and well that kind of people.
We have them and so do you.
I am sorry that you think we are all like that, and I think that American that was a snob to you was a moron.

Greetings. mainly because we are indoctrinated by propaganda from birth to believe that this is the truth. We are told over and over in all contacts we have with the world that we are special and not common people like everyone else. propaganda sticks. Americans are infected with it. We are drenched with it by our parents, by the school teachers, by our playmates, by television, by the books that are written for children. everywhere. Hard to realize that it is propaganda and not reality. A child believes and many children never actually grow up enough to think on their own. Age does not guarantee intelligence.

It is something that is embedded in them from a young age, I don't think it is snobbery, I think it is self belief, and having confidence in yourself and what you can do. I think it is a great way of raising a child. Maybe if we raised our children with those values then we wouldn't be such a troubled nation.

You have people in other countries too who believe they are better than others. Conceit, I guess.

But in general, I think if a person hasn't traveled or if they are not very worldly, I think they become narrow in their thinking - because they might ONLY know the AMERICAN way and culture...so every other culture because its different, and they know nothing about i...t, they think the American way is the only way..the better way...
