It would be nice to know what kind of books you are interested in. I happen to like suspense and mystery so my favorites are anything by Patricia Cornwell, Robin Cook, James Patterson, and John Grisham. They are all very good writers. I am also beginning to enjoy the books that Dan Brown (The DaVinci Code) writes. Enjoy!

try Anne McCaffrey, particularly the Pern novels, I can't think of another Author who had the cheek to put dragons on space ships, and make it work

David Gemmell is very good especially the Drenai books.

A time to kill, John Grisham.

House of Leaves by Mark Danielewski is fantastically strange.
The Hannibal Lector trilogy by Thomas Harris is far better than the movies.

It really depends on what kind of books you like. One author I really like is Arthur Nersesian. He wrote Suicide Casanova, The ****-up, Unlubricated, Chinese Takeout, Dogrun, etc.
