Or, will you tell the truth even if it means ending a friendship, a relationship or getting the baleful stares from colleagues?

It is EXTREMELY rare for me to lie about anything, even to save my own butt. When asked something that makes me feel the need to lie, I simply avoid answering.
I do not lie for two simple reasons. First, when you lie you must have a good memory. Lying usually leads to more lies and to eventual discovery. Second, when you are discovered lying it brings into doubt everything you have ever said. Your wife or girlfriend will wonder if you lied when you said you loved them or if you really were working late. The momentary discomfort of telling the truth is much less of a problem than being caught in a lie. People may not "like" the truth, but they respect it.

I think I wont.... doing the right thing is better than doing what's easier...

before when I was a bit younger I could have said yes I would... but as experience had told me over and over again... lying to anyone either its a white lie or one enormous lie will make life miserable and pathetic for you....

living with the truth is better.. even if it hurts... you'll just have to live with your mistakes and grow out of it... learn from it....

In my field telling the truth will save your skin.

It is an accepted fact in the aviation industry that human can and will commit mistakes or errors.

Covering up mistakes or error just to save oneself from embarassment could lead to a disastrous situation.
Hence if one commits an error or mistakes as much as possible he is not penalized, we study why he commit such mistake and try to come up with a solution in order to avoid similar mistake from happening again. That way no one will make it a habit to cover-up an error. We blame the system not the person.

Because of this culture, I learn not to cover-up any wrong doing. And I welcome corrections.

If this could work in our field, I think this could also work in our relationships.

If we will just realize that humans are capable of commiting mistakes and we will readily forgive them because of that fact. Then there will be no reason for the person to lie or cover up any wrong doing.

Why would you!!!Can you afford to lose your friend just by not sharing what secret you've got over there?..I don't really get it,If what you meant is you will end the friendship by saying so,or by not telling so...But,if someone have asked you about your secret of beautifying yourself,Why not tell the truth and share a little that you know...You've got nothing to lose...And they're your friends....kaw din!...

No, I will not lie to save myself. If I have done something, that's my choice, and I must face the consequences.

Our house helper is an expert liar.

Lemme tell u one story...

One day, my grandma cooked Bistek for lunch.
now comes dinner, and only one piece of bistek was left.
My grandma asked her and said I was the one who finished it! But all the time, I was out walking with my dog!

No one believed in her since we all know that she's "masiba" (more than matakaw) and she's an expert liar.

Unfortunately, she's still here with us....rrrrrrr!!

you have to call a 'spade' a spade , especially in relationships , wanted , or otherwise --- and stuff the baleful stares from the peanut gallery --- their probably doing the same thing or haven't got the 'ticker' to admit it .
stick to your guns dearie --- it's your life .
good luck .
