What is the difference between Website and Web Application?Plz describe properly.?

Yahoo.com is a website. Answers is an application. A website can be the host to any type of application, but isn't itself an application. Applications are "programs" that run on a website for the users benefit.

it could have a:
tax calc
payment app
membership app
etc
