As is usually the case in Middleeastern policy, there is a nasty tightrope that we tread bisecting the enemy that we know and mistakenly think we can change and the enemy that we don't know. As with the Ayatollah and Sadam--we have been known to "back the wrong horse". Bhutto is evidently the "Evita" of Pakistan and I think even recent history has judged her human rights abuse rather harshly. The stick we need to be concerned with is the unrealistice measuring stick we are using for these characters. Until we can appreciate the fact that their experiences will never line up with ours and get some real intelligent diplomacy (without oil interests) going - I think were in trouble. Good Question, my brain needed a wake-up-
PS- I have a dream that one day I will see an "advanced" political discussion here that does not require the use of words like "idiot"-- that really just diffuses the strength of the users argument- sigh
