Everyone spouts of about how much cheaper the Xbox 360 is but everyones to short sighted!!

I bought my PS3 in England in August and it cost me £425 with 3 games and 2 controllers and 60GB hard drive (only one you can get in England)

But recently I decided to get a Xbox 360 (no other reason then there where no games I wanted on the PS3 till January!)

I went to the shop and it was £250 for Xbox 360 preium with Halo 3 and Pro evo 6.. Bargin I thought, then when I was about to buy it i asked what else do I need and the guy said:

Wireless: £50, ouch!
Another controller: £30,
Battery Packs: £20 for two. (apperently not built in like PS3!!)
Xbox live which is £30..

So that went from being £250 for a next gen console (BARGIN!) To being £380, buy one more game to get same deal as PS3.. and...

Playstation 3 deal (60GB) £425
equivalent Xbox 360 (20GB) £415

Microsoft have just been very clever in selling everything seperatly to keep the cost down. AND PS3 is BlueRay!!

Microsoft is clever selling everything separately because not everyone needs all the same kit..

I have no need for the wireless adapter so I didn't buy that.. I have a Wii also.. that came with wireless included but no connector for wired networking.. I had to pay $30 extra to get the wired network adapter.. I think it is a mistake for console makers to assume everyone is going to want to use consoles in the same way.. I would rather have a more bare bones system with accessories available to add desired functionality..

About rechargeable controllers.. the defect you mention with the Xbox 360 controllers is actually an advantage.. the PS3 batteries are not replaceable.. batteries only have a limited life span.. so someday you are going to have to buy a whole new PS3 controller instead of a cheap battery.. also with the Xbox removable batteries I bought the Quick Charge kit and extra batteries so I always keep one some charging and some in the controllers.. I never have to plug my controller into anything..

The PS3s biggest problem is, as you said, no games.. If the PS3 has as many games as the Xbox right now it would be doing great.. Sony needs to step up and bribe or buy a few third party developers like Microsoft has and get a few must-have exclusives.. then the PS3 will really take off.. almost nobody buys a game system just to watch movies on.. and if they do it's actually going to cost the console maker because they sell at a loss and make their money selling games.. people buying PS3 as a Blu-Ray player are most likely not going to buy many games.. so in the long run Sony loses out.. They need to get straight what they are selling and do what they need to do in order to sell that (unless they are just trying to sell a movie player bacause thats just the tact they are following now.. a game system bundled with a movie and no games??)

I agree with you that the 360 does end up being more expensive than the PS3, but the catch is that all those things are optional. You don't need them to play the 360. You don't need the wireless adapter. You don't need to get another controller unless you have people come over and play with you. You don't need XBL but for some people, online play is a must. You do need the battery pack, but it's cheaper to get the battery back than it is to get a new Sixaxis controller. The Sixaxis may have built-in batteries, but it's not going to last forever. What happens when the Sixaxis battery dies? Do you have to get a new Sixaxis or do you send it back to Sony to have the batteries replaced? Sony still doesn't have a plan on how they're going to solve this dilema. Once the Dual Shock 3 is introduced, the Sixaxis's battery life is going to be even shorter.

MS is built on ripping people off. They're using the 360 like it's their operating system. A new patch every few months, a new 360 every few months. Put some flaws in it so people have to buy a new one.

Micro$ucks really have a very good marketing team. they tout the CrapboX 3fixme as a next gen gaming console and you can't even play online outta the box? that's absurd. my brother bought one last year and it has done the 360 on him twice. of the 12 months he's only played with his machine a total of 4months because the damned thing was always in transit. stick to your PS3 don't encourage M$ by buying their "console". i mean, why anybody just stand by waiting for their machine to get fixed only to have it broken again in a week is beyond me. i don't even know why nobody has sued M$ for manufacturing and selling defective crap like that.

Your 3rd statement hit the real reason to buy a 360. It has far more good games available for it. Of course that's in large part because its been around much longer.

You could have got an Elite for £249.10, play and charge kit for £5 and Halo 3 for £25, an extra controller would come to £14.

You just need to shop around, you're new to internet shopping aren't you?
