I think Lowes is misguided with this stunt, but they do have a reason for doing this:
Many Jewish families, in trying to keep with American traditions, put up a tree and call it a Hannukah bush, so Lowes is just trying not to alienate those people. I think that Lowes misinterprets Jew's views though. A vast majority of Jews would not be offended with the concept of Christmas trees, and indeed we love going and seeing all the decorations just like everyone else.

I saw that one ( well at least when I started typing ) person used "politically correct" to describe what is happening in our society. I replace "politically correct" with "communistic policy". It helps me explain what the beep is going on.
You no longer live in a free society. You will conform or you will be taken to court until you are either broke or broken.
I read a long time ago that a fundamental approach to converting a society to Communism is to degrade its language. where as a person can't be sure of a words meaning. look up the definition of Factoid its a great example. Another would be that a Christmas tree now has a new name and the new name is a already in use. Think about it, now a christmas tree is tied to your family tree.
I think I going to go get the largest pine tree I can and decorate it in my yard as a Christmas tree. I hope its so bright that someone complains.

Edit: It's the 'political correctness' War On Christmas. They are trying to say that Christmas is a singular religion's holiday and is offensive to people of other religions! Those PC people need their heads examined! Those other religions that do not celebrate Christmas, don't care about it nor Christmas trees either, thus they are not offended. If you celebrate Christmas then you also have the right (freedom) to buy a CHRISTMAS tree without having to call it by a PC name! As a Christian (non practicing and not devoted), I AM STILL OFFENDED by PC re-naming of common sense things! For example: Christmas, Christmas trees, Halloween, etc. Stop the nonsense and use common sense! I suggest that you boycott Lowes and shop somewhere else. Since you don't shop there, problem solved. What's happened to freedom?

Absolutely ridiculous. Are they afraid Jews or Muslims will stop doing home improvements if it's called a Christmas tree. it's not like there are crucifixes draped from the entrance way.
Lowe's attempt at being PC is an insult to the public's intelligence.
Besides the majority of people view Christmas as time for gifts and not having to work. Very few even remember this is a religious holiday.

Lowes claims it was a printing mistake and that they do refer to them as Christmas trees. They may just be backpeddling due to protests, who knows. I never get my tree at Lowes, so I dont care. Issiah Majority of our oxygen comes from ocean plants. I guess you were the one sleeping thru science. They are specifically planting the trees to be cut down so it really isnt a negative impact. The trees are then shredded and recycled and they are very biodegradable because they are trees, so its not exactly filling up landfills.

I have no idea why people get offended since the origin is actually pagan.

[Excerpt]
"The exact origin of the Christmas tree seems under debate, but it is safe to say that this symbol evolved from Pagan tradition.
"The Norse pagans and Celtic Druids revered evergreens as manifestations of deity because they did not 'die' from year to year but stayed green and alive when other plants appeared dead and bare. The trees represented everlasting life and hope for the return of spring.
"The druids decorated their trees with symbols of prosperity -- a fruitful harvest, coins for wealth and various charms such as those for love or fertility. Scandinavian Pagans are thought to be the first to bring their decorated trees indoors as this provided a warm and welcoming environment for the native fairy folk and tree elementals to join in the festivities. The Saxons, a Germanic pagan tribe, were the first to place lights on the their trees in the form of candles. Ancient Romans decorated their homes with greens at the Festival of Saturnalia, their New Year and exchanged evergreen branches with friends as a sign of good luck.
"The first Christian use of the Christmas tree symbol is credited to 16th century when devout Christians also brought decorated trees into their homes. German born Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria, is credited with starting the trend in England in 1841 when he brought the first Christmas Tree to Windsor Castle."

Everyone and every company is too worried about being politically correct. They are freaking CHRISTMAS trees. If I saw something lables a HANUKKAH bush I wouldn't be offended. People need to remove their heads from their a** and not get so offended about EVERY little thing that they don't agree with. I mean seriously..

Alot of stores are doing this to try to take the religion aspect away from Christmas (the Christ part) I think its stupid and selfish and they do it because some people don't believe in Christmas and they think they will offend them by calling them Christmas trees.

They are stretching the politically correct thing way to far. While honoring other holidays and religions they are snubbing holidays like Christmas. I will never understand this. Why not just add instead of taking away from what we already have.
I think "family tree" is a bit ridiculous. Why not call it what it is then, a "pine tree." ::::shakes head::::

And here I was thinking a family tree told you who your ancestors were. 0.o
Yeah, I find that a little odd. And why even BOTHER saying that? If they really can't call them Christmas Trees, wouldn't it be easier to just call them "Fake Trees"?
