With modern technology being the wonderful thing that it is because you hate watching sports you can easily flick over to the Disney channel and let Lizzie McGuire entertain you from now on.
Perhaps he is currently the best baseball player in the MLB? Perhaps he is worth the money that the Yankees are going to pay him? Perhaps you shouldnt believe everything you read about people who you dont actually know on a first name basis? Perhaps your a whiny little so & so.....

if they do pay him, they will look like hypocrites ("If Arod opts out, we will not negotiate with him").
(although, it seems strange that you say only because of this that you will cheer any team against the Yankees, where have you been???)
While he may be amongst the best playing now, this was in fact, a career year for him.
He was only 3 HRs off his career high, he beat his personal RBI record by 14!!!, he had a career high in runs, SLG, OBA, and OPS+.
Sounds like a good time for him to opt out and sucker, I mean negotiate, another contract with someone.
When you start considering that he may be paid the equivalent of TWO players, you start to see why he's not worth that money.
Should he be the highest paid, sure, why not him?
But $22,000,001 would do that too, no? (figure is rough and representative, not exact)
If anything, he's the guy they should have put that 'you get more money the further you go into the playoffs' clause on.
He's the one that will motivate more easily with money.

Poor ignorant people... It's not punk players ruining sports these days, It's their agents. A-Rod had very little to do with the opting out. He actually wanted to stay with the Yankees. Scott Boras is the person all of these disgruntled Yankees fans should be whining about. Suck it up, one player is still not gonna make a difference against the now flourishing Boston Red Sox organization.

If you don't want to watch sports, turn on Nickolodeon then. A Rod is far from a totlal loser as you say. I don't blame him for a big $$$ contract, blame the owners who pay the $$$. If you were in his shoes & had the same opportunity to make big $$$, you wouldn't turn down that $$$ & say, oh no, that is too much, I will play for awhole lot less. I betcha if the Yankees win a World Series, you would be the first one to join the bandwagon. He himself didn't lose play-off series, it is called a team game. Don't watch sports anymore than & enjoy the Disney Channel & the Cartoon Network

Take it this way you pay 33 year old A R O D 35 million dollars a year. The 42 year old version will get 15 million a year. Much better deal for them than the one they gave Clemens. Besides take inflation into account, 25 million dollars a year in 10 years will be the de facto standard for an everyday third baser with SOME power.

Yankees are paying him $275 million to A-Rod because he is a future hall of famer, future home-run king and he puts up the best numbers in baseball. A-Rod wants this money to pay his bills, care for his family and do philanthropic work. If u don't watch pro sports then wat high school games???? U sound some guy from the countryside or the south.

50 home runs, 140 RBI's best offensive production outside of Papi and Manny. He was honest with them up front, said he would come back if they signed Posada and Rivera, they did he came back. 10 years. 275 mil, keep buying those products advertised on TV sports and keep buying jerseys, jackets, ballcaps and other paraphernalia. That way the owners will continue to pay athletes way too much and eventually we will have pay per view on all sports, not just boxing, IFC, and Wrestling. Think it won't happen? Got the NFL channel, no? Then how many NFL games can you not watch at home this year.

they pay him 275 mil because he is one of the guys that can give the Yankees another ring. if the Yankees lose A-Rod, they would have to get a better 3rd baseman and a guy who can hit homers which happens to be A-Rod. and now, if A-Rod signs, Mo might do so too.

He is one of the best players in the game today but he is not the best in baseball history. Every time I read that I shake my head and wonder if some of these uneducated "fans" think that major league baseball had its inaugural season a mere 10 years ago. People better go and educate themselves on the history of this great game before ignorantly proclaiming Payrod the best ever.

Dude, then there's a simple solution - don't watch sports. Hating on A-Rod is not going to make your life any better.
P.S. - if it weren't for him, we wouldn't have made the playoffs, so we're hardly going to be paying him to lose.
