Is it only when you eat salty foods? It may be water retention, as already mentioned. It could be an allergy to the foods, but it's odd that doesn't swell other parts of your body such as your throat. Are you preparing these certain foods that cause the swelling? Could be contact dermatitis, an allergy to something that you've touched.

How very odd.
Are you sure it's eating the food that causes it? My hands go weird and swell from an additive in flour if I make and roll pastry entirely by hand - I can just about get away with making a basic crumble. I'm fine eating the finished product though - just have to use the mixer for rubbing the ingredients.

maybe because the site of reaction is in your fingers. you know when the body detects something that it feels like its an invader, it readily attacts it and the site of reaction is in your fingers...
