Illegal immigration, run away taxes, terrorism, weak dollar? Some say morals, others say political corruption. I say it's the split in our country's ideologies. America was founded on individual freedoms based on a free market(capitalist) economic system with our nation recognizing our national sovereignty. Today America houses a large segment of our society that believes in communal freedoms based on a shared(wealth redistribution)economic system with no national sovereignty(one world). This split has all but tubed America as a viable country for the near future in my opinion. Are there more important issues in your opinion, & if so, why?

Walmart!

If we are smart we'd export this enormous threat to our enemies abroad. Lets build a Walmart in Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran and North Korea. We can turn their country into a huge parking lot. Let's also open a chain of Walmart Supercenters in France and China. Their economy would crumble after spending two Christmas seasons under the big blue lights.

On the downside? Increased global warming. Not to worry! Walmart sells airconditioners.

Unfortunately, everything everyone answered with is NOT the problem - they are all symptoms of the problem.

The problem is that people dont hink independently any more. They would rather follow someone elses ideas because its less hassle for them. The lesser the hassle, the lesser the stress, the lesser the stress the more happy....or so the theory goes.

The truth is, all that is a bunch of BS. Everyone has a certain amount of worth. The more they are responsible for their own worth the more productive they will be. As such - all these other problems listed would go away.

Imagine a society of people who could think on their own, make choices without interferring with other's choices, be able to stand on their own two feet without the help of others. If such a society existed, the government wouldnt even be necessary.

If the governemnt didnt exist to create such a big freebie handout machine, the immigration problem would go away because there is no free lunch for them to get from the non existent taxpayers.

There would be no taxes because gov would be so small it would be self sustaining.

The dollar wouldnt need to be fiat money so it would never be weak as it would be real coin of gold or silver.

The individual free market would be booming.

All other nations would recognize as soveriegnty as we move the world economically through its varipous crisises.

I guess all in all we woudl need to return to the 1920's or earlier. When PEOPLE solved problems not the government. Back before the dreaded 1933 date when the US declared backruptcy and enslaved the entire populist to the world bank of of the Rothchild, Warberg, et. al.

The movie "Idiocracy" pretty much portrays where we are headed. Imagine in the movie if Luke Wilson was replaced with say James Q Wilson. - LOL - Watch the movie you will see what I mean. Dont cry too much though - its a satrical comedy but as usual - life immitates comedy quite well.

Dont ever let anyone say you were not warned.

The biggest threat - people unable to think on there own.

In 50 years Mexican immigrants will be integrated in our society, and Mexico will be prosperous enough so that the immigration will end. The weak dollar is more of an adjustment than a problem even now. I would argue that terrorism is a threat to Americans but not America. However, the increasing support for redistribution policies is a result of real changes in the economy. If income inequality continues to grow we will become a social welfare state like European countries, or become a two tier society like exist is in south America countries. Given the choice I think we will chose the European model, unless another solution can be found for the effects of globalization on income distribution.

I believe that the greatest threat to Americas future is the rabid partisanship that has infected both parties so deeply.
Conservatives are bent on the destruction of anything Liberal, and the Liberals are seemingly unbending and determined on totally silencing the right.
Unless we can come together to get something done, all we do is tear the nations fabric further apart.
Unless we find some flexibility, I fear it will end in a similar fashion that it did the last time the two sides could no longer compromise. (1860)

I believe you hit it on the head! America has been polarized and politicized and contrary to popular belief it is not one party or the other. It really has become a matter of blind faith and guilt by affiliation, principles are no longer the standard but as long as my team wins who cares.I agree that our country was based on individual freedoms and that communal freedoms are of the socialist ilk.I truly believe immigration is on top priority next would be making China play fair in trade by imposing tarriffs .Cheap labor and outsourcing need regulation

The biggest threat to American citizens

1) inflation. caused by government spending money it does no have.

2) falling value of the dollar, caused by international investors loss of confidence in the management of the U.S. economy by the U.S. government. this makes all products made outside the U.S. more expensive to buy for Americans.

3) taxes, when only the middle class pays for everything, then the middle class will be reduced over time. until everyone is poor and a small number of people are very rich.

4) illegal immigration, more competition for your job. forces your wages down. so business does not have to pay you what your worth.

5) democrats (communists)
people who believe that the government should take care of them. and that someone else should pay for it. if the government has a monopoly on most services then free markets are destroyed.
they also believe in gun control, which historically opens the door to genocide.
they also believe in environmentalism which means everyone will have to give up their cars and walk. don't believe me? when you give up your gun, anyone with a gun can take your car and make you walk. who's going to stop them?

6) the war on drugs / now the war on terrorism.
how can you expect the government to protect you from drugs or terrorists when they can not even keep unarmed Mexicans from walking across the border. all the government seems to do is take away the civil rights of honest hardworking Americans.
coming soon anal probing at all airports.

7) the government has direct or indirect control over all of the following groups of people.
education, the military, people in prison, all government workers, federal, state, county, local, those on welfare, foster care, juvenile hall, all retired senor citizens. all of the medical establishment.
how much of the population is that?

The American people. Voter turnout is shamefully low. Many people who are eligible to vote don't even register. The populace is amazingly misinformed on even the most fundamental issues facing the US. People seem much more interested in Britney Spears, their favorite sports team, or which of their coworkers is gay -- or whatever else the inept, commercial American media tells people to be concerned about.
