Go to the doctors ASAP...this can get up into your kidney and get really bad. THe longer you leave the cystitis in your bladder the more inflamed it gets and the more likely that it will return again.
Seriuosly...don't let it get worse...some people have told me it can be more painful than childbirth and after experiencing it first hand I can tell you it's not something to ignore and see what happens.
Make an appointment today; it will only be a week of anti-biotics.
Drink lots of water and avoid caffine like the plague.

As long as you are not running a fever you can try treating it yourself by drinking lots of water and adding cranberry juice or tablets to your diet. However, since you have never had a UTI before and do not recognize the symptoms as such you should probably go to the doctor and rule out anything else. If he or she gives you a prescription it is up to you if you want to use it or not, but let your doctor know.

Take Cranberry Concentrate Capsules and Garlic Capsules- 2 each, every four hours. Drink large amounts of water and urinate as frequently as you can. Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and sugar- including fruit juices. Rest as much as possible. You should notice a difference in 24 hours. Keep taking the garlic capsules (decrease to 3x a day) for a week to ten days.

There are sachets of Sodium Citrate (Cystocalm) or Potassium Citrate (Cystopurin) that you can buy. It's in powdered form and you drink it in a glass of water.
In the meantime drink a glass of water every 20 minutes and refrain from drinking alcohol, tea, coffee or juices. Just water.
A spoon of bicarbonate of soda in a glass of water is supposed to be good but don't overdo it especially if you have a heart problem.
If the problem gets worse say you have blood in your urine or pains in your back or a fever go immediately to your doctor.
With a bit of luck it will pass within 48 hours. If not go to your doctor.

It sounds like you have a urinary tract infection. Unfortunately, yes, you do need to go to the doctor. While you are there they will make you pee in a cup so they can test it for white blood cells. They will then give you an antibiotic that you need to take for a week. In order to prevent these in the future, drink plenty of water and cranberry juice and keep yourself clean.

You can get stuff from the chemist unless like me you have blood pressure then its the doctors - also drink lots of cranberry juice - you should deal with it as it can go further and affect your kidneys this is another reason I seek medical advice as I only have one.

think you've got cystitis. you can buy a powder from chemists/pharmacys that you dissolve in water that helps. drink plenty, especially cranberry juice as this relieves the pain. but you'd prob be best getting some antibiotics from the doctor cause it can get really painful

If you do not want to go to the doctor I suggest getting a tampon and dabbing it in yogurt then inserting it like you would for your monthly cycle. That is what a nurse suggested to me. If that doesn't help any than I would go to see a doctor. Make sure to use plain yogurt.
