I was hit by a driver who ran a red light. I was driving a step van and got hit in the right rear quarter of the vehicle. I was lucky to be able to keep the vehicle from overturning, witnesses said that they thought I was going over! I stopped, and went to see how the other driver was (the Fire /Rescue/ EMS training took over) and the car that hit me was gone (except for the pieces that were scattered on the road!

The police were able to track down the driver (after he took the car to a body shop for repairs) and he was charged with the accident. It took three months before he was caught, and because he denied hitting me (claiming that he had run into road debris on a country road 30 miles from the accident scene) his insurance refused the claim. When he was convicted (plea bargain that was a slap on the wrist) his insurance company finally paid for the damage, and my medical bills, but I still lost a week of work, and spend at least 40 hours dealing with courts and insurance companies!

I know how you feel!!

I parked in a municiple parking lot for about a half an hour and came back to find my little blue car now had a white scraped design on it. I was lucky that there were no dents and I was able to have the paint detailed off. For days I found myself looking at every white vehicle I passed which was of course a waste of time as I never did find the person. Unless you have had someone hit your vehicle and take off, you have no idea of the feelings of frustration that one suffers. Nobody wants to take responsibility for their actions. Too bad if the victim has to pay out of pocket, the offender doesn't and since it is the "me, me, me" generation that is the way it is. Stinks.

My Mom had a truck load of Mexicans back into her car in a parking lot as she waited to pull out onto the highway, and take off. Luckily, a cop wrote her out a report and she was able to file with insurance and get the car repaired.

I was a victim of a hit and run as a pedestrian. My auto insurance through State Farm covered my expenses.

i got run into, and they just drove off! never to get caught! completely wrote my bike off, put me in hospital and never even got caught. i had no excess and ended up not bothering because it was nearly 3 months after that my insurance company said it would take ANOTHER minimum of 90 days to pay out. i just left it. fixed it myself. bitt of a ball ache!
