I think you are referring to front side bus or fsb. Here's a list of Core 2 Duo processors and their corresponding fsb.

The new ones that have 1333Mhz fsb would require motherboards with newer chipsets like Intel's X-38, P-35, G33, G31 or Nvidia's 680i.

You have a lot more choices of motherboards for the processors that run on 1066 or 800mhz fsb.

I'm not sure this is a 'feature' but the first concern should be the 'socket type' for the processor.

E.g, a Core 2 Duo processor is 'Socket 775'. This determines the shape and style (number of holes etc) for the processor to sit it.

This is absolutely essential. Make sure you choose the right one or your CPU will be useless in that board.

well im runnin a asus extreme striker M B with dual core asus does go well with core 2 duo's but can get really overheated if you havent got the proper cooling hardware mines is water cooled cost alot but worth it
