I am looking to buy a Laptop. I will be using mainly to do stuff like YA, Checking email, Downloading my photos from my Digital Camera (10.1mp if that matters) and editing them prior to burning them to a CD, Burning DVD's & CD's and watching DVD's on.

The Laptop I am looking at is a HP Pavilion notebook.

It has an Intel pentium dual core processor T2310, 2048mb DDR2 memory, 120 gb hard drive, Reads & writes dual layer DVD's & CD's, Light scribe Direct labeling, Window's Vista home premium, intergrated 802.1 wireless LAN

My question is this a Laptop that is going to meet my needs and is it a decent laptop It has a 15.4 " screen (not really worried about screen size) But it is selling for $599.00 Is that a good deal?

Yes I Know photo editing depends on the camera software or software like photoshop, but I was wondering if doing so would run slow becuase of the computer's hardware wasnt adaqute

Damn good deal. I'm running something not as good and I paid $1400...Mine is an HP Pavilion dv5000, just over a year old about.

Jump on that...one of the best deals you'll find.

**Photo-editing is all based on your camera's included software. I have a 12MP camera, and I have no problem loading/editing pics.

***Also I suggest a good paid-for anti-virus. I have Norton Internet Security 2007 package...costs about $80 a year but it was well worth it when my computer got infected.

I also use an external 80GB Western Digital Hard Drive for all my files...useful for moving from computer to computer, and when my old Toshiba laptop took a dive, I didn't have to worry about losing anything.

It doesn't sound like you need much from a laptop so it should do.

The laptop isn't going to be able to handle any recent games (or at least I'd be very surprised if it had a decent graphics chip) but for Internet stuff, Photography and burning optical media it'll be more than fast enough.

enable me preface by ability of pointing out that i'm an authorized Dell and HP Reseller. I even have no longer something against Macs in any respect. actually, i'm rather inspired by ability of the present Macbooks. in case you elect the Microsoft working equipment, the Dell Vostro computing device has been my contemporary %. for suited fee for lowend laptops. in my view, you're comparing apples to oranges. they do no longer evaluate to a minimum of one yet another as they the two have diverse reward. My expert opinion: Macbooks - sturdy (equipped on Unix platform), sturdy classes, easy, greater rigid standards, greater constructive video modifying potential, potential to run XP in simple terms approximately (utilising application). Dell Vostro - Comes with XP or Vista, versatile with application, multiple hardware suggestions, decrease priced. i prefer to propose you talk on your instructors first and ask what they are going to be utilising. ultimately, you will discover much less issues in case you whichever platform they're utilising.

hmmm u didn't mention if it was core 2 duo or just core duo. but if it was core 2 duo, man... it is a STEAL!!! i have an HP pavilion dv2000 series notebook as well with almost similar specs as yours and it was at 749.99, as it was more of a semi-gaming notebook.

but since you are going to use it primarily for photo editing, i think that will be more than enough. get it before it gets away! :)

it's alright but more importantly if the laptop has some freebies or promos like flash dish, bags, printers, 0 % interest, etc. and has reasonable warranty

Ten years ago, laptops with much less power, cost ~$2000. Even when you figure in inflation, it is very inexpensive.

Actually your homecountry matters,i.e, the market you are in. I dare to say that it is not a good deal! please try to search from online sales channels! it is too expensive! The best laptops are arround 300 to 400 USD.

Good luck!

I think it should meet your needs just fine. However, just to be safe, how much VRAM does it have? 64MB is just barely enough if it runs on Vista. So, hopefully the VRAM is above 64MB.
