It would be better for high income people because they spend less of their income on consumption. It would be worse for the bottom 50% because they currently pay almost no income tax and consume most of their income. Their taxes are mostly state, local and payroll taxes(social security)

yes it would
Fair Tax would tax on what is spent, not earnings.
People below liberal poverty level would receive "prebate" check each month based on number of family members (sales tax refunded before money spent)
Jobs would return to US. Cheap labor is not the only reason corporations leave this country...punitive taxes are a bigger reason.

check out Fairtax.org or read the book....makes lots of sense

OMG!!!! What would we do without all of those pages of tax forms, and could the money that is spend processing those forms be spent on? Certainly not on education or the economy, or anything beneficial!

Really it would be the best thing that could happen.

Well what do you know finally something we agree on!

I knew there had to be something!=)

I agree completely. Imagine all of the money that would be saved by eliminating the IRS jobs paid by the taxpayers! Not to mention not having to fill the prisons with Americans who don't file taxes!

It's a win win!

You betcha. That's why I'm all for the FairTax. You have to check it out and study it. Most of the people who argue against it don't know what they are talking about.
