There is no way of knowing in the internet world who is telling the truth or not... all you can do is try to see things for yourself and read/watch the most credible sources that you can. That is why I keep CSPAN on the television while I am at home... I prefer to hear what the politicians are saying and not listen to some news guy tell me later what he thinks they said.
As for snopes.com, it does not have a high reputation as being credible and trustworthy; so, enter at your own risk.
