Hi I'm 40 yrs old and I have the same problems sometimes with certain pairs. I have got to the point where I get the one with reinforced toes, instead of ones you can where with bare toe shoes. I literally have to stare at them for a hour which I don't have, to figure it out sometimes. The really costly ones seem to be better. You cant go wrong with the reinforced toes though it's very easy to tell with them.

Often the back has a tag in it. If not, perhaps there are some differences in the panty portion (the back would have more room for the buttocks, for example). If there are no differences like these, then the stockings are symmetrical so there is no front and back.

Most of them now days have colored stitches in the back... I just got some the other day that have green stitched in the back of them. Very convenient.
