The truth may hurt but never harm. A lie may not hurt - but it always harms. Yet a truth is only what seems true to us, and may not be true - and a lie is only what we think others might wish were true whether it is or not. People are afraid of the truth, or telling what they think is true, because it might require them to change their mind or attitude about something. But that's how we grow. They lie to avoid imagined consequences. That's starting at shadows and fantasy. It betrays and diminishes the teller and denigrates those to whom the lie is told. Any relationship standing on a lie is not worth having - for either party. And lying destroys self confidence, apart from being a sore test of memory!

No a truth is not worse than a lie. However, most people will tell a lie for what ever reason usually because it will "save face" or some "uncomfortably" that the truth might involve. In telling the truth one has to admit that they made a mistake, one has to admit they were wrong or that knowing that the truth they need to tell is injurious to the one they love, as in telling someone you are having an affair. There is the saying that "the truth hurts". Yes it does at times and this is why more people lie more than they should.

Some people don't understand the difference, but that is another question.

Good question!

Truth is better than lie. We know for the fact that truth sets us free. However, humans tend to lie to cover the shadow the truth. They feel better if truth is not revealed because otherwise the truth behind will cause pain to their loved ones, Although the real truth may change its picture from good to bad they rather prefer not to. Not telling the truth sometimes get the pleasures they desire. That's how good lie is no matter how bad. It is really somewhat subjective because the bad on it had been good in favor of lie. It covers up things that will make the situation change. So people rely more of it and use it as a weapon to be in a advantage position. Self-ego and self-esteem cast them.

Thanks for asking. Have a great day!

I do think that telling the Truth, sometimes is worse than a Lie, but it depends on what it is you want to confess. When it is something you did, that will become worse than the Lie,sometimes People Lie to get out of confessing about it. But I do think that when you did something that is damaging someones Reputation, I would go ahead and confess, because I do not want that Person,or Persons be in the wrong, for not saying the Truth.

I do not think that truth is worse than a lie because it helps you know who you are dealing with or to know what is correct and what is wrong. People are so afraid to tell the truth because if they tell it they would be exposing what they don't want to expose and telling the truth is telling who they really are.

Generally speaking, men are afraid of truth, or they are afraid to tell it about their sex life if they are bad at having intercourse, while women tend to tell the truth about what they want from man, because normal women can get multi-orgasms, while men can't. So as a woman, truth is much better than lie.

Truth is the greatest WORTH of our life.
I have no idea about the rest of your question. I may presume that the moment you say a lie the truth may have no relevance anymore. I tried to understand a lot of silence (also lies), some other 'truth'. There is a waste of time. There is no truth after some lies; there is no worth then, either.

why won't they try?

The truth can hurt. Finding out you've been lied to hurts worse though. Most of the time people lie to get themselves out of trouble... it's a selfish act, really.

If you have no reason to fear then telling the truth is easy but if you think the truth will get you into trouble it's easier to lie

"Speak Truth to Power." Truth can't be squeezed into our convenient little pigeon holes of thinking. At times it rips apart everything we hold sacred. The Truth is powerful, and the consequences for speaking Truth are quite possibly beyond our control. For that reason, the Truth is not worse, it is just more frightening. Be brave enough to at least look at Truth and consider it.
