who cares. i hate questions about who is more powerful, this is the underlying reason we have wars and we need to get our eyes off these sorts of thoughts.

In purely economic terms, Japan is far more powerful - it is a larger country (geographically & numerically) as well as having a superior GDP.
Since the second World War, Japan has not been allowed (officially) to have an Army, so does not have the military weight that the UK has.
In political terms, it is difficult to weigh up - GB has bigger allies - it is surrounded by like-minded European countries, and has the US as an ally - Japan is geographically more sensitive being closer to Russia and China - but not closer in polictical-philosophy term. Japan is a democracy but does not have as many democratic countries geographically close to it as the UK does.

Cn I answr yr questn w/o vowls since Im in a big hurry also?
Japan was way ahead untl their ecnmy strtd to declne the past few yrs. UK ecnmy is not as good...but imprvng.
Militarily the is no cmparsn. UK has a miltry and a nclr capblty....japan dosnt. Anime mecha dont count.
Politiclly the edge goes to UK. Thy hv closer ties to th last rmnng superpower than Japan. UK has been a plyr in world affrs much longr than Japan, so is bttr knwn and regardd.
Socially depnds on wht you thnk is strongr positn.
Japan is a racially xenophobic society. Homogenous nature means little cultrl conflct, but no hybrid energy either. Pressurcooker cultural expectations lead to one of highst suicide rates in th world in Japan.
UK has mixed cultr, includdng Islamic immigration. Cultural virus alwys a bad idea, islmcs kill or convert, nvr just coexist. Society very introspctve in UK aftr turning away from days of world Empire, bsiclly in a long slow decline from glory.
Tossup eithr way.
Go to live in Jpn prbbly more pleasnt exprnce, but will alwys be an outsdr and treatd as such.
Go to liv in UK and be more accptd, but there you ar in the UK.
Last time they fought Japan lost, if that matters.

You can't even spell the word! I-N-T-E-L-L-I-G-E-N-T-L-Y.
I'd explain the political, social and economics comparisons, but you wouldn't understand...
