A lot of it has to do with the fact that the Pistons have other guys who can score. Hamilton, Billups, Prince, and Sheed can all get it done from the post to beyond the thrree-point arc and need to get touches on the ball. It can also be attributed to the Pistons style of play and to Mcdyess' personality. He is such a nice guy and can sometimes be too unselfish especially when there are so many other scorers on the floor.

Because he's got two bad knees. The reason he hesitates and settles for the jumper is because he can't beat anyone on the dribble...it's his only shot. He's gun-shy because other guys like Chauncey or Sheed are waiting with their hands open. Once an incredible athlete, McDyess is way past his prime thanks to the injuries.

Hey Iceman,
i think part of it is with the departure of Big Ben- perhaps Antonio's role is more focused on rebounding and defense. Additionally it seems as his minutes are going down a bit and they seem to be playing Maxiell more-- so he's probably just fulfilling his role to get more p/t. He hasn't seemed the same player to me this year- perhaps he's a little injured or just in an early season mode.
Time will tell.

confidence. basketball is mental. like when a guy gets in "the zone" you believe they will all go in and during those times they do.defense is lacking, the knees aren't what they used to be. other teams will exploit his weakness. i think if he is in there he should shoot the ball to counter the points the other team will score on him. he was a talent back in the day. he's being an unselfish role player at this stage in his career.
