I understand that i should be more carefull with my things.i lost my cell phone at my friend house. and we cannot find it anywhere. i told my mom and she went crazy. she put me on punishment and and took my computer and told me i cannot go 2 school,I cannot go outside and i cannot go to my friend house. And she told me that if im lying about my phone then im going to jail. Is this fair? i mean people loose there phones all the time but they dont go to jail. i pay the bill on it each month. what is wrong with her? im 17 years old im going to be grown in 4 months.

She can't stop you from going to school, that's illegal. She seems to be overreacting. Just be glad you only have four months left.

Your mom cannot keep you from going to school. That is a BIG law violation. You can't go to jail for losing a cell phone. Did she buy it? If so, pay her back and tell her to back off. Granted, you live under her roof, but there are limits on what type of punishment is allowed. Once you are 18, you can move out if you like, but be ready to pay some bills. In the meantime, go to school. Tell mom that SHE can go to jail for forcing you to be truant.

She's just trying to make you be more responsible. Moms can be like that. When I was still living at home, my mom would kick me out for no apparent reason. Maybe she's going through a difficult transition in her personal life and wants comfort and knowing that her daughter will be okay without her. She could be going through menopause. And as for the jail part: She can't put you in jail. That's ridiculous. Why don't you show her that you will pay for the phone and try to be more mature about daily habits and decision making. Once you show her that, she'll ease up... I guarantee it!

I think that she went a little over board on this. She will not let you go to school? That is not proper punishment. You cannot go to jail for lying. I don't know what is wrong with her but something is not right. Making you stay home from school is not right. I think I would have given you a lecture but that is it. It was not intentional and I have lost things myself.

when you are a grown up you will understand. she's just trying to make you a better person. that cell phone had value.....someone had to earn the money to pay for it. when you are an adult and have lived on your own for a while you will understand the value of money and things. BTW, at 17 you are not grown....you may think you are as we all did.....but the harsh reality is you are far from it and you wont realize it for a few years. your mom has been around the block a few times....she might know a little more more that you do.

Your mom is crazy(no offence) and if she doesn't send you to school just because you lost your cell phone she will be the one going to jail.

wrie to your mom a very mature letter explaining how ure hman and sorry and how u hate making ure mom angry and how it really bothers u when she is bothered and yuo are trying hard to improve your self etc etc etc etc !!!
smtimes a leteer not face to face is easier to be musshhy! and hopefully ll get away and around with it!

your mum is weird just losing a handphone go to jail and cannot go to school some more..i remember losing my hp once...and i mum was angry for a while ...than she bought me a new one..i dont find it a big deal..u lost it in your friend's house i m sure he or she will find for u rite?better than losing it outside

thats bull they can not arrest u for losing a phone and i hope she knows that if she calls them and tells them that u need to be arrested for losing a phone that they will laugh at her face cause they have way bigger problems than that
