It is hard to answer this question. We tend to think about aliens acting in human terms, but there is reson that an alein would have a humn psychology.

In short, we cannot predict the behaviour of an alien species towards us. However, when you think about it, there is not much logical reason for an alien race to attack us, although we cannot rule out the possibility of aliens having some wacko religion that says they have to wipe everyone out. Even so, if human development is anything to go by, it's not terribly likely.

Aliens would, contrary to what you see in sci-fi, almost certainly not attempt to attack us for resources; they could get all those from dead systems without the problem of humans trying to fight back.

There is another interesting possibilty though. It's realted to the efficiency at which we process information. The scale is called a sentience quotient. We have a quotient of +13. THe maximum is +50, which is several million times faster. The minimum is -70, which would take the age of the entire universe to process 1 bit of info. Anyway, although computers are slightly belwo humans now, some hypothetical systems could be +23 or even more. If aliens replaced their minds with this stuff, communication between them would be almost impossible, as they would be just too good- it would be like us trying to have a philospphical discussion with a rabbit.

I think they would be nice. If you ask yourself why are people violent, then you realize it is our primate instinct and the only reason we attack each other is for resources or jealousy.

Aliens first off might not evolve from primates and also might not suffer from our fight or flight instincts.

Lastly their technology should allow them to live with out want or need at which point their society should be able to cure itself of our current societal ills (Murder, Rape, Etc.).

Was that a long answer to a simple question? Ok yes except for a possible misunderstanding in cultural differences, theoretically he should be nice and you should be able bond with him.

P.S. if he has a book that translates to "To Serve Man" its a cook book run.......

Any advanced race is a danger to humanity. We should be hiding, not broadcasting our location into the unknown. For all we know we have something they want desperately, whether it's resources, slaves, playing god, to teach us their way by force, or any other sort of evil I can't imagine.

i think that if aliens exist and are evil and want to eat us, that they would have by now or would have at least tried. i think if one was walking around on earth he'd be curious of our lifestyle. people have claimed to see UFOs but these UFOs haven't harmed us. if aliens want to hurt us wouldn't they have landed already and taken some action? i mean if i was on another planet i wouldn't want to eat the aliens..i'd be scared of them..i dont know maybe if there are aliens out there they're scared of us

Forget the movies, they are nice, If they can get to us, and we can't get to them, they would have overtaken us thousands of years ago. Because human beings tend to be war mongers (forget about George Bush) we assume that all others are like that.
