In terms of durability, coins have a much longer life then paper money. If you look at the value as being better then bills would be, as they are generally a higher value. Although bullion coins have a higher value in terms of what they contain, most of the time they are made from precious metals like gold or silver. So it all boils down to what do you mean by "Better"?

Well, which would you rather carry? $100 in coins? Or $100 in paper money?

Coins last hundreds of times more that paper money and as they age they are worth more to collectors.

coins are, you can collect them for years, but paper money is easier to carry and to pay for things.

The polyester (plastic) mony we have here in Australia, it doesn't rip easily, hard to forge and doesn't get ruined in the wash. In the U.S though prob. a greenback, less weight than a coin but eisier to tear and render un useable (also doesn't wash very well)
