In literary and fanciful usage, the collective noun for a group of crows is a "murder." Groups of ravens have historically been called an "unkindness." However, in practice, most people use the more generic term flock, and sometimes more macabre terms such as "swarm" or "horde."

Crows and ravens often score very highly on intelligence tests.

In occult circles, distinctions are sometimes made between crows and ravens. In mythology and folklore as a whole, crows tend to be symbolic more of the spiritual aspect of death, or the transition of the spirit into the afterlife, whereas ravens tend more often to be associated with the negative (physical) aspect of death. However, few if any individual mythologies or folklore's make such a distinction, and there are ample exceptions. Another reason for this distinction is that while crows are typically highly social animals, ravens don't seem to congregate in large numbers anywhere

Try watching the film "The Crow" starring Brandon Lee.

The crow is a force for good that.

Crows have had bad press since medieval times. If an unmarried woman lived on her own, and had a crow as a pet, she would be treated as though she was a witch (and we all know what happened to the poor old dears then).Crows like to hang out in church yards, which again adds to their sinister misconception.Plenty of old trees there, not many people about so it's quiet most of the time.Lots of wildlife to feed on.An old lady that lived next door to me as a kid used to feed a crow that she had tamed. He would sit on her windowsill and tap on the window with his beak so she would go and feed it.I did it once, it was amazing to be so close to a wild creature. He came to her house for many years.
I actually like crows, and the cawing sound they make.It reminds me of the countryside as it's a familiar sound there, I love long walks in the countryside.Same I can say for seagulls and the seaside, they remind me of holidays when I hear them.

I know they have quite a bad reputation but I really like the occult concept, where crows were believed to be the important in the transition to the afterlife for the soul, they were the guardians during the journey and protected the spirit from harm.

Theyre seen as evil messengers for some reason. Poor crows eh? A pretty little robin wouldnt have the same effect.

hehehe, yep I see the crows on every evil scene on a film, really I don't know why, but, certainly they have a misterious look, with all their black feathers and their bulk beaks. I also will like to know the real reason, why are they related with the evil, maybe because of the past were related with the wiches?.

Not all crows are evil think about Brandon Lee in The Crow.

Crows aren't evil, pigeons are...those flying rats. Imagine the film....Attack of the flying pigeon. The Pigeon Returns and to complete the trilogy... The Pigeons must Die

I live next door to a cemetary & there are times when there's a big flock of them cawing away they do sound quite evil. I like the spooky aspect of the cemetary & crows next door though.

Crows are "carrion" birds - they feed on the bodies of the other dead animals, and that can include humans. That is why they were considered "bad news". They are actually very intelligent birds, as birds go.

Crows have a 'black' aura about them. It's hard to explain. They are always making that god awful noise. Then they tend to congregate in groups and watch you. Very eerie.
