I stress a lot, so I dont want to do something like biochemistry because I am afraid that I will just screw it all up!!!

Anyway...what other degrees out there will be okay to get into medical school?

You shouldn't get a BA. You should get a BS. Technically, you can have any degree -- as long as you take the courses that are required for medical school. But it is always a good idea to do more than what is required. A BS in biology or chemistry would be a good idea.

I would rather you tried biochemistry. It would be much better for you to screw that up than to have you screw up a medical procedure. If you can't handle something like biochemistry -- perhaps you should think about a different career.

Hi, im currently a junior pre-med in baylor university. I am getting a B.A. in Business and Biology. The reason why i'm double majoring in bio and bus. is because while in med school, since you can't get scholarships, you have to pay for it yourself and support yourself (unless you are getting a Ph.D. where the gov. pays for your ph.d and give you some pocket $). The bio major looks good for med school, and the business major looks good for a lot of things such as selling skills, people skills, a leader, trustworthy, (all med school regents are very egocentric and idealistic; references that imply honor and integrity are definite pluses). BUT the best thing that the business major does for you is that you won't have to work at walmart part time while going to med school, but you can get a decent part time office job where you can work and study. I thought of this as a freshman, but i've consulted with several advisors and they all think that's a good way to go if you r gonna have a problem paying for med school n supporting yourself. (also a very good fallback in case you're not one of the lucky 6% that make it to med schools.

Well, most biology majors are designed to train you for the MCAT, which is what you will have to take in order to get into medical school.

My girlfriend is majoring in biology and is getting ready to take her MCAT for medical school.

Here is a link with stats regarding majors and medical school admittance: http://www.colorado.edu/aac/table1.pdf

Good luck!
