We don't know what everyone of them is but we have very good reasons to suspect that they aren't alien spaceships.
When one considers how easy it is for humans to misidentify things it is ludicrous to claim that something that looks like it has windows was actually an alien spaceship (people often imagine a ship with windows when they see something completely different).
Mostly UFOs are planets (Venus is particularly common), birds, aircraft (including secret military craft), satellites (either burning up or just orbiting) and other mundane things like that. Both the US and USSR governments probably encouraged the idea that the strange things in the sky were alien spacecraft because it distracted people from what they really were (in some cases, especially on the Soviet side they were weapons of questionable legality being tested).

Opinions are fine, but they should be grounded in facts. There is only one verifiable fact that has been documented...governments have lied about them.
Roswell is the best example of this. There are four official stories about it. All contradict eachother to some degree. Hidden in the change of story is the admission of lies.
When an agency (or worse a branch of the military) lies repeatedly about anything, they lose credibility. In the case of a U.S. agency; this is criminal behavior, since the government is lawfully accountable to the people.
While it is understood that tactical security must be maintained during on-going operations to defend the nation, there is no known excuse to protect the people from lawfully devulging information about a "non-threat" as U.F.O.s have been described by that same government.
Because the various branches of the U.S. Government have been denying the existence of U.F.O.s have exposed themselves as being deceptive, the logical conclusion is that there must be validity to the existence of these phenomena.

It is possible that UFOs have visited / are visiting our planet, but the majority of UFOs reported are either Government aircraft (strange how most sightings are near government air force research facilities, i.e area 51) or electromagnetic disturbances in the atmosphere.

I believe. I have seen some questionable things up in the sky. One night I saw one very close, and it stopped my wondering and made me believe.
"To suggest that we are alone is inexcusably egocentric." - I believe that's the quote Koneko was looking for. It's a great one, eh?

I think they do exist. It would be very egoistic to think that WE are the only intelligent creatures in the whole universe. ^__^
