Top friend? You are way off base. You deserve full access to her account for 2 reasons....she is 16 and you are in charge completely for the next two years! I have a full view of my son's MySpace via my own and let me tell you from here I see the parents of many teenage girls screwing up. The things they do and say on line frighten the crap out of me. Let her hate you or stay off line. That was the choice plan offered in my home.

In this day and age your daughter is only trying to protect herself from social stigmas. She also has to develop an identity separate from the one she has at home and begin to assert herself as an individual and an adult. I'm sure she's not trying to hurt her father or degrade your relationship in any way. Think about when you were her age, would you have your parents hang out with you and your friends. Everyone should have boundaries for family relations and friendly relations.

Not fair at all!!! But she's 16, what else do you expect Joe? Consider it lucky if she adds you at all, even the best father daughter relationships are iffy when it comes to publically anouncing it at that age.

My girlfriend put her Dad on her top friends. Other kids would think it "uncool". Maybe some kids are afraid it will make them look like wimps or babies or something. Anything to be cool right? I wouldn't take offence to it, teens are crazy. Their hormones are insane and they dont know what they want. Better just leave it be. One day a time will come when your daughter respects you.

As the family adult you should be administrator on her computer and so techniquely you can go any where she goes or has been. That having been said, don't abuse that right, her "My Space" is to her what your diary or personal journal would be and you would not NORMALLY read a daughters diary....... not a good move if you want respect and trust....

Easy, Joe, easy. Let me take care of this. One big paw swipe across her tail, and she'll be begging you to save her from the mean kitty. Then you can tell her no way, not til you add me on the list. It works every time.

Yes it fair she is a teenager and for once dad has to take a back seat. Just be thankfull she added you at all and you ca keep an eye on things. Right now your better off just letting it go and not worrying about it.

Don't be offened, be glad shes willing to add you at all, it is not that she doesn't love you. But, it is for her friends, and not that she puts them first, but, it would not be very cool to have "mom" in first place above them. It is just a teen thing, as she grows in maturity, she won't feel so much need to "do her thing" and not what mom wants.

lol listen to yourself. i had a friend from church she's 12 or 13 and she threw a fit when she found out i didn't plan on adding her to my top friends, even when i hadn't been on it for almost a year. listen, it really doesn't matter whether you're on that list. i promise. try to act like an adult not a 12 year old girl

Yes it's fair. You are a parent. She only wants her "friends" on there. That's the way teenagers are.
