Yahoo:
By discouraging people from using their native languages, ESPECIALLY in their own nation's version of Yahoo!Answers, you are becoming cultural imperialists. Language is an extremely strong part of people's cultures. By only supporting English, you are actively working to force others to conform to Western (specifically American) ways of expressing themselves. There is no harm in people speaking their own languages on their nation's version of Yahoo!Answers. Those who type questions in Tagalog are aware that only people who understand Tagalog can answer. You say they are "missing out" because the English-speakers cannot help them, but maybe everyone else is missing out because you don't allow that person to answer/ask questions in Tagalog (or whatever language)! Why do you assume that English-speakers have better answers than non-English speakers?
Do you agree?

i'm from the philippines. but i guess that what yahoo's suggesting in here is that if we want(filipinos and malaysians) more answers from our question, we should ask them in english so that people from other nation can understand what we're asking. but i guess we can still ask questions in our native tongue if we want to.
anyways, thanks for your concern.

Some questions and answers here are in Tagalog. No one minds. But, by using the English language makes it easier for us to express what our thoughts are or what we want to say. There are many of us here who do not speak Tagalog; like me, for instance. I can better write in English and would prefer to do that but it doesn't mean I can't understand the language. I do, very well.

Just becos they only speaks and understand english and they wanted to make the whole world do the same. They just want to meddle into other people's affair, that's all.
Actually I do not see the where the problem. What strike my mind was that some senseless people happens to be in the section and found that they could not make out Tagalo or Malay.
I feel that the writer (i think the name is Mag or something) should take this opportunity and keep an open mind and heart. Take it as a learning experience instead of making others (like me as one) feels that he/she is really senseless....

It is easier to understand English because it is the International language. It is just ok for me to use english in Y!A to enhance my skills in grammar and spelling (thanks for Check Spelling in the top right of answer box).
If we would use local dialects, there would be a lot problems. Cebuano question with Kapangpangan answer and an Ilocano will read it .... Gosh!
An Indonesian will ask a question here in the Philippine section using Bahasa, maybe only 1 would dare to post "WHAT?" as an answer.
So, Yahoo makes sense.

Yeah, you have a point.
Kung Pilipino ang kausap mo, edi pwede kang
mag-Tagalog!
There's no issue there...
why make Answers International pa, diba?
And, why are they only blaming it up to us and Malaysians...how about Indians? Vietnamese? Spanish? etc
i mean, tayo lang ba???

I disagree...It's yahoo answers Philippines and we have right to speak tagalog here.

Yahoo owns this board. They are kind enough to grant us a privilege to use it for our mutual benefit.
We are not paying them so let's not talk about rights. We don't have rights.
