4x squared because there r 2 x's and not 3. Squared means it has 2, cubed means 3. So 2x times 2x has to 2s and 2 x's. You could also write the answer as 2 squared x squared which simplifies and goes back to the original answerof 4 x squared.

4x^2...you add up the exponents
x is the same as x^1 so it's really
2x^1( 2x^1)
so add up the 1's and you get 2.
Hope that was helpful!

First, multiply the coefficients.
What is 2 * 2? 4.
Now multiply the variables.
What is x * x? x^2
Now multiply the results. You have
4 * x^2, which equals 4x^2.
Therefore, 2x * 2x = 4x^2.
