In order to determine which certs are right for you, you must first decide what type of work you want to do. If for example you want to work as a PC repair person, you won't need much more than the Network+. If you want to work as an IT support for a larger company you'll need more server based background like the MCSE. If you want to work mainly on the WAN side, ie routers and switches and transport, you'll need something along the lines of the CCNA. If you want NOC or help desk work you'll need higher level certifications. Bottom line is you need to start with only what gets you going in the right direction for you. After that the "sky's the limit" as far as certs go!
