I saw this video on the news of a man being tasered by police at the airport. He was extremely angry and could not explain himself because he did not speak English. He ended up dying....so I was wondering, is taser use justified?

Mark L.,
He was coming from Poland to live in Canada...he had never even been on a plane.. Try putting yourself in his shoes. He was in a foreign country, didn't speak the language, he was extremely frustrated (why, I don't know), and he could not communicate with anyone.

Police in front of you with guns and tasers, and you get angry and wave your arms around. Smart move there, I tell you. Does his lack of English knowledge really matter?

I think that those police were very unjust because they hurt an innocent person, just because he didn't speak english. Tasers are supposed to NOT kill people. So if guns kill, why not tasers? I agree that they should not be too physical with the people and that the RCMP went too far there. I think they should get more proper training and police can't kill someone
without any reason just because they are the "law".

Well when faced with the choice of being shot with a gun or being tasered which would you prefer? Yeah the Tasers have killed some people but it seems like so many people die from them because of the media because someone dying from a taser is better news than someone dying from a gunshot.

Beats getting shot. But seriously, the fact that tasers are not typically lethal I think it does lead some (not all) police officers to be a little quick with their tasers.

ok if its a psychopath weilding a gun or knife then tasering may be the only way to subdue him, but COME ON tasering a foreigner at the airport? they went tooo far with that one.and the risk of using tasers is too high to use it as a standard deterrant anyway. so i largely disagree with their use.

Tasers must be used properly and for valid reasons only because it could kill people.

I think they can be useful in some situations as an alternative to shooting people, but they need to requre some intense training and rules on when and how to use them.

Better than guns and less dangerous to the passersby. The innocent won't get hurt.
