I've had these for about 6 years...here are my key notes....
I play sports, hike, and I work in an office on top of being an artist where I sometimes have to get my fingers right into the moldings and things that I create. Finding the right combination for my nails came down to the following conclusion.
If you keep them shorter (barely above your fingertip) and don't go for colours, then you should be fine whether you are a jock or not.
They grow out faster than you realize and if you get them too long they will look cheesy before you get your next fill, and you will catch them on everything if you leave them too long - it feels like the pits of hell when you hit one of these bad boys the wrong way. Shorter is best especially when you play any sports.
Colours and really long fake nails belong on white trash only. You should never colour your nails unless they are your real nails. If you live in a trailer park and are the local trailer hoe... then get rounded with a colour polish. Otherwise, get a french manicure style or light pink white only and you will be fine, this draws less attention to the fact you have fakes, and they're classier. Plus the french manicure or pink with white airbrushed tip or tip designs always seem to last the longest without chipping.
Oh yeah and go for the square cut. They're stronger and don't appear as obviously fake or white trashy as the rounded tips.....

Personally I prefer clean nails with no jagged edges.
As a dude who works for a living, I do my best to keep my hands relatively free of nail crud and jagged edges. For the most part, I'd consider nails a non-issue. Neat and clean; if you are gonna dress nice and would like to match your outfit to look "polished", fine. Fake nails are going above and beyond the call of duty regarding nail care. I'm fairly certain that "high maintenance trophy girls" have fake nails as a common trait.
In short, neat > glamor.

I don't care for them.
Unless they really look like real nails.
But they make your real nails very soft and mess them up that is why I hate them.
The only reason I would see to wear them is if you had something really nice to go to and wanted your nails to look nice as well.
and as far as being a jock type girl, if you want them it shouldn't matter if your very girlie or a jock type girl.
But that is all opinion.

Hi... Question back to you is "who do you "dress" for and who really cares..? Answer is - YOURSELF... If you like the looks of what you do and what you wear, as long as it's not EXTREME - go for it girl... I would venture to say there are more g/g's and ever more so, t/g s t/v's c/d s wearing false nails nowadays than there are that don't.
So do what pleases YOU, and if you like the look (s) and are comfy with it / them, do it..

Acrylic nails look great. I get mine done with a dark pink acrylic, then polish and a gel finish. I hate really really long white tips. It screams white trash.
Pale pink looks great for a polish, keep the white tip really thin if you can.

I'm a guy, and individually, I don't like long nails. I actually know a lot of like lengthy, painted nails cause they're "so pretty", but I don't like them.

A little bit of toe nail is fine... but I agree together with you. Long nails are kinda low.

I don't care much of it at all. I really hate when ladies wear those long ones that looks like claws.
