Hi friend,
My advise is to tell him straight. Do you know when I was in college I have this terrible under arm odor? I wasn't even aware of it. Then I have this friend who told me the hard truth. Believe me, it hurts to know the truth and I have sleepless nights about it. All of a sudden a lot of things make sense. It was then that I understood why some classmates don't want to sit beside me. But that was a hard wakeup call and immediately I went into action. Now 23 years later, I'm forever grateful to that friend of mine who took the pain to tell the truth, thus saving me from further future embarassment. Be that person to your "bad-breathing" friend. Of course, approach him nicely, but don't go around the bushes. Just tell the truth. Sometimes you have to slap someone hard to wake him/her up. Maybe now, he/she might resent you, but in the future he/she will forever be thankful to you.

I agree with mia w 100% U don't have to not be friends with somebody just becuase they have a problem. U tell them as nicely as possible. And throw out suggestions. Maybe your friend has a gum disorder, which he/she should get checked out just incase, and just maybe your friend isn't taking care of their mouth right. You tell the person they need to brush teeth and the gums that meet up with the tooth, and the most important thing to brush is the tongue because that's the cause of most bad breath. Have your friend use a tongue scraper before and after they brush and rinse the residu out with mouthwash. And the secret to the mouthwash: mix it with peroxide. Don't let nobody else tell u that peroxide is bad to use everyday, because I've been mixing it in with my mouthwash ever since I was small and my mouth and gums r as healthy as anyone elses. Gargle for 30 seconds, and then after that, gargle for about 5 seconds with warm water. I don't know if u'd notice, but sometimes when people gargle, their breath still smells like morning breath but only mixed with mint. The secret is to rinse afterwards with warm water, but only in the back of the throat. Tell your friend that and have them keep up with it. Make sure they floss ast night. And if it does not help, have them get checked out at the dentist office.

Just sit them down and say, as your friend i need to tell you something. Tell them that their breath has a very strong offense odor to it. No matter how hard something is to say, you should always be able to tell a true friend anything. She or he may have an infection in their gums and doesn't know it.
