CA said they couldn't help so he didn't pay anyting. He paid in FL and moved. Now WA says all is forgiven when the youngest turns 28. Why? The lout still owes me $20,000 and he's getting away scott free (no offense to any scotts in the crowd). I know this happens to guys, too, so I'm looking for answers, not pointing fingers.

The money is actually owed to me. Child support is for child support--the extra rent, food, clothes, whatever. It is not owed to the children. I have chosen to give half to the kids, but that was my choice. It is also my choice to leave it be and move on. I have indeed enjoyed my kids and have a good relationship with them while he has none--due to no effort to maintain contact with them. It is too much effort for me to continue looking backward, living in that past. I need the energy for the new things I am doing--starting a new business, for instance, becoming a better me. The kids are not interested in revenge--for that is what it would be. He only continues to grow smaller through his own actions. As for us, onward and upward.

Check with a lawyer and file a civil suit. If the criminal courts have different degrees of guilt, the civil suit only determines if there's a preponderance of the evidence. Either way - the goal is for you to collect what is owed to you.

Did you enjoy your kids? Move on, it's only money for goodness sake. Don't be so bitter or you may turn ugly. It will show in your face.

Your child can actually take him to court and sue him for the remainder or if you have any student loans or school fees you can proove you can sue him for that...I would sooo get another attorney or take it to court again. My mom did and my dad had to give her all of his tax return until I was like 23 to make up the difference.
