4-6 months old. I was always told to start with veggies and then fruits. Introduce 1 veggie at a time, just in case baby is allergic to any of them. Good luck

Everyone has there own opinion on this. Some say 12 months some say 2 months, or any where in between. (My brother's pediatrician told them not to give there daughters any foods until 12 months, no cereal nothing, but formula)
I on the other had gave my kids cereal at about 4 days old. But they left the Hospital taking 6oz of formula every 2-3 hours. By 1 week it was 8oz every 3 hours. I had to start them on something else.

You have to take into concideration the amount of formula recommended for your childs age. Is your child still hungry after having his/hers recommended amount of formula per day? Finishes his/hers bottle and wants to keep feeding?

If the answer is yes, then go ahead and start some simple baby foods. Orange ones first, then Greens Allow about 3-4 days between switching to another food. Exp. Day 1-3 Squash Day 4-6 Carrots Day 7-9 Sweet potatos This allows time to see if your baby has any food allergies. Usually with in 12-24 hours your baby will have a reaction if they are allergic. Alway remember to only have 1 new food at a time.

He/she my only eat a bit or two the first try. That is fine. They my act as if they don't like it the first time, fine too. Try again with the same food later that day or next day. They have to get use to the new texture and flavor.

After you have mastered all the orange, green and other veggies. Move on to Fruits. Same process. Start with clearer ones first. Apples, Pears, Peaches, banana, Plums.

Take note: All of these new foods will change your childs diaper habits. (Smell, Texture, Color) Don't be alarmed

Well it's recommend to wait for food at 6 months and when you do offer a food wait 2-3 days before giving a new food and also with cereal that should be waited also 4-6 months but better to wait to 6 months your baby is fine with milk right now. Reason why cause allergic reaction to the food

It seems like everyone has a different opinion about the best time to start babyfood, but I think that if your baby is ready, 3 months is old enough to start. My baby was that age and she did great. You might check with your doctor just in case, but it is really your decision. I know a lot of people say to wait until the baby is like 5 or 6 months, but I don't see the point in that if the baby is clearly ready before then. I know there are a lot of people on here who disagree with me... this is just my opinion.

There is no absolute rule on when to start what foods. There are higher rates of food allergies in infants who start foods to early but obviously many others do just fine.
At this age, the primary source of calories should be his formula or breastmilk.
In a normal infant, the AAP-American Academy of Pediatrics- (I'm a pediatrician) recommends rice cereal at about 4 months and baby food at 6 months. There are many cases (most commonly reflux or poor weight gain) that we recommend starting a little earlier.
Is there a history of allergies/eczema in your family? If so, I would be much more vehement in my recommendation to wait on advancing his diet.
If not, you can take the (small but present) risk and advance to baby food. Watch his stools for constipation and back off for a few weeks if he can't tolerate it.
Regarding baby food stages...they are not medically important and there are no recommendations when to advance! Yes you should start at 1 and work your way up but the only difference is the thickness of the feed...again watch his stools to see how he tolerates it.

your pediatrician should be the first one to ask that question

breast milk is the most important food for a baby since it supplies antibodies to help the little one resist bad bugs til his immune system gets stronger

when my first baby was going to be a month old, the doc told me to start off with rice cereal, then a month later he told me to start him on applesauce.
each month we added something else that was very easy to digest and easy to swallow.

bananas and other fruits and vegetables that are in the baby food jars are good
whipped potatoes (with real potatoes) that don't have any lumps would be ok later on.

I would not give any type of meat to child until he is older, even if it is in a baby food jar, because their digestive system needs to mature so they can handle it.

your pediatrician's advice is more important than what anyone else would say.

When you give your son cereal is it by spoon or is it in his bottle? If your son only gets cereal in his bottle start feeding him cereal by spoon, then veggies, then fruits all stage one foods ofcourse. But if he already eats cereal by spoon then start with the veggies. Only one new food at a time. Start one new food and give him that for a 3 to 5 days before moving on to a new one so you can watch for allergies. Aslo make sure that his formula or breast milk is still his main source of nutrition.

if he has had cereal then go for it, but do veggies first. since fruits are sweet, if introduced first, babies will mostly turn their noses up at veggies. veggies are also not as known for allergy attacks like fruits can be.
always try one new food every 3 days to make sure there are no problems. of course you know to do stage 1 first.
also NEVER mix baby food with milk. babies can't have it until they are 1 year. i saw someone else tell you to do that and it's wrong.
