Emigrating to India.?

Hi there veryone, my Q is really a multi-part question.

I am an American student (of Lebanese descent), I will be graduating in a couple years.

I am fed up witht he government of this country and am thinking of emigrating to India as I know it has a dynamic and growing eceonomy.

I have lived in many counbtire around the world and am a seasoned traveler.

I plan to ake with me around 85 thousand US dollars to open up a small business or something.

I would like to know if this is enough money for a decent sized business, likely either a Lebanese retaurant or travel agnecy/hostel...?


The problem I have is that I am HIV positve, I do need to take meds for this and I dont know if this impedes me fom emigrating to India? Can it keep me from doing so?

Also, are the HIV meds in India expensive or hard to find?

What part of India is a great place to move to with penty of business oportunity?

1. You need to know whether you will be allowed to become a citizen of India. Ask at the India embassy in your area. All other questions are relevant only when this poser is in your favour. If you are allowed to be an Indian citizen, then the first most important hurdle is over. Think of costs involved in this.
2. You need to look for a home as well as a business place as a first priority. It will be bit difficult given your financial resources. You can opt for the towns or suburbans of cities. But still it will not leave enough to start business. You need more money.
3. Travel agency and tour operations could be a more profitable business looking at your background. Plus it may not require much of financial power to start with.
4. HIV meds should not pose much of a problem, I hope. There are several NGOs working in this field and you could be in touch with them and work out the things, I suppose.

But as I said, first solve the first riddle. Ask around whether you will be allowed to become an Indian citizen.

Yes, first find out if India will grant u citizenship.
85000 dollars is roughly Rs 340000/- at present rate of exchange which is peanuts in Metros like Mumbai, Delhi, evem pune has become expensive, more over travel agency business is very common here - business competition very high. Most important, visit this market, study it and then decide, your physical presence and valuation will be better if u do it yourself rather than relying on other people to give their views after all it is your money.
