I started taking Zoloft in January because I was diagnosed with panic disorder. They started me out on 50mg and gradually moved me up to 150mg. I am still taking the 150mg a day and it has been working wonders for my panic disorder. the problem is that i went from being about 120lbs to being in the 150's. This is driving me nuts! I started a diet of decreasing my calorie intake and I have been walking for at least a half hour everyday. I am still not losing weight. If anything I'm gaining it. I have never weighed this much in my life and I'm getting married in July. I really want to look good for my wedding so i need to lose weight. I've heard that Zoloft causes weight gain and I think this is my problem. I'm scared to go off of the Zoloft because of my panic attacks but I feel like I'm getting depressed from gaining so much weight. I also heard that Zoloft is very hard to stop taking. Does anyone have any suggestions or comments on my situation. Any help would be great! Thanks!

I would recommend talking to your doctor about this as well to let them know how concerned you are about the side effects and would like some suggestions on how to lose the weight without having to go off the medication hopefully.

i am currently on zoloft and have been for years.

i WAS overweight, before i went on zoloft. i didn't have a pair of scales at the time, so i'm not sure if i put on weight after i started taking it.

anyway, once i was OK in the head, i started sorting out my weight issue. i found that a switch in diet from low fat to a low carb diet was the answer.

i lost a third of my body weight and maintain it by eating lean meat and vegetables, dairy, nuts and fish and avoiding all sugars, starches and flour. (and i feel a lot better for it too)

i've been off zoloft a couple of times and find that it currently has no impact to my weight loss - ie, i don't lose MORE when i'm off itl.
