top part is over freezing may be due to defrost cycle is getting aborted. check the cause. overfreezing of the top part causes an ice barrier making imposible for air to blow to the lower part. either defrost timer, defrost thermostat, defrost heater, fan, is out of order.

Actually ..the answers here I did not see what may be at hand..On some refridgerators the frezzer actually cools the bottom refridgerator too..To do this there is a fan in a plastic casing within the frezer..check it..see if it is running. This sustem, which is not in most refridgerators have the fan that forces the cold through a channeled tube into your refridgerrator part..Make sure the food in the freezer isn't blocking this source of air flow and then check the fan..the fan can come out simply by removing a couple of screws..then plug the two wires from the fan directly into a outlet to check it out..doesnt matter which wire in what slot..the fan will spin if good..if it doesnt it is bad..this will be the problem..The cold air from the freezer is not being directed into the channel to make the cool air flow into the fridge part...This type cooling system is rare now days..and only in 5% of new fridges..but they still exist..You can purchase this fan yourself and have anyone that can turn a screw driver replace it..

itsme is on target.

if there is frost buildup on the back wall of the freezer, it's most likely the defrost thermostat. you will have to get all the food out and turn off the fridge to defrost the coil.

You need to unplug it and let it thaw out, My daughter just almost spent a fortune buying a new one over the same thing. I hope this works for you .
